After a few days lurking at the Dell outlet I decided to pull the trigger on a E6400. The funny thing is that I set my mind on a scratch and dent one, then I refreshed and it was gone. And I am like "dang it!" I should have not waiting. But then knowing that after 15 minutes the item is taken out the cart I waited and kept refreshing, and BANG! I saw it again and put it in my cart.

So you never really know if a model might be back shortly. This is my first Dell, let's see how it goes. I am coming from Asus. I had Sony on my mind for the past 3 months, but then I didn't want to spend 1000+, and two of these cost as much as one Sony SR, their outlet prices are ridiculous. The only thing I didn't get is the 65W adapter. Enough talking, here are the specs...

I can't believe I am getting all this stuff for $530!! It's a scratch and dent, but I don't care if it's not perfect. We'll see how it goes.

So from now on I'll be hanging out here rather than at the Sony forum. The only thing I don't understand is why it's saying that the ram is 677

I got an E6400 from the outlet with a somewhat similar config for $599 (used a coupon code, link is around here somewhere)....even with shipping, tax & next-day delivery, the price still beat anything you could find anyplace else.

    Hope you enjoy yours!

unfortunately not. But at the outlet it's very rare to find exactly what you want.

I just don't understand why it says it has 677mhz DDR2. Because it's not in the possible configurations.

I don't trust the Bill-of-materials dell lists. For my e6500, it said it came with an AUO LCD panel and a TSS DVD RW. Well, it came and I have the LG panel and a Panasonic DVDRW...

(edit: looks like the content filter here scrambles Panasonic's master company, the M* word Matsushi** for the DVD drive)

I bought a scratch and dent last week. E6400

As a comparison of price point...

Same Processor, Screen, OS and included software
    CD/RW vs your DVD/RW
    80 GB 5400 vs your 160 GB 7200
9 Cell vs your 6 Cell
    1397 vs your 1510
No bluetooth on mine or webcam and only 1 gig of RAM for me (single Dimm ddr2 800)
But I did get the 160NVS

    519 after coupon.

My Scratches and Dents appear to be a few scratches on the lid. I'm ok with saving 500+ compared to new... for a few scratches.

    Really amazing deal.

hey wastin. you know I never really got a hang on how they price different configurations. IF you look at the outlet at the ones that are like $10-20 apart, it's hard to tell why one is cheaper than another. Anyway I will see what I get whenever I get it.

I think the prices differ due to various agent that add the system to inventory. It's not that uncommon to find a better spec system priced lower then other, with worse specs (like regular lcd vs led). With a few hundred system it takes some time to find a gem though.
