You are a very early adopter. I'm wondering though if much of your frustration could have been avoided if you had waited for bugs to be worked out. I'm waiting for this exact reason. Reading about your furstration and a few others having issues is making me rethink when to purchase. I'm going to wait a few months and see how these issues are dealt with by Dell. Of course you may not have had much choice and had to buy the system right away the moment it became available. Someone has to be the early adopter and you are that person

That does suck... I wish you luck. I suppose I've been fortunate out of box. I do hate this mandatory Win10 update thing, and I'm pretty sure this can cause havoc when drivers are updated. Already reports of WiFi issues with automatic updates.

I'm also an early adopter but I think it's a bit unfair to pay $4k to be basically a beta tester. Hopefully the next wave of buyers will have a smoother ride.

Unfortunately I didn't have much of a choice. I need high-end hardware that's portable and DELL was the only company out with a Skylake product (besides Clevo MSI etc). Normally I would have waited for the ZBook but work was asking me to buy now for year-end budget stuff.

If the Win 7 version of the 7710 is still a piece of excrement then I'll return it and wait for the ZBook and use the old saying of "it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission" when my boss finds out...

What were you using before the 7710? I have a M6600 and would love to upgrade but I do not have to, even though it would be nice and would speed my work up.

How far does the screen open? Can it be pushed all the way back like Lenovo laptops? When you are tall like me and use the laptop standing at a counter, its a much better viewing angle if I can open the screen further. Thx

I am having issues with my M6700 Covet and looking to get the new 7710. I have some questions:

Which is better the i7-6820HW or the Xeon E3-1535M? I am not concerned with the cost.

On the screens what is the difference between the FHD IPS and the UHD IGZO? The resolution?

For boot drive, is the High Performance PCIe SSD better choice than teh High Performance SATA SSD?

I will probably add another drive later on.

    thanks,

    Mike

Cost aside, the Xeon better, is 0.2 GHz faster and also gives you the ability to use ECC RAM if you like.

FHD = 1920x1080, UHD = 3840x2160 (double resolution in each direction)

    PCIe SSD is faster.

Wait for a couple of months if you can.
