Graphics Card upgrade for M6800 ?

Sadly it's the same for the Quadro P4000, no overclocking possible. The upgrade should work on both LVDS and eDP model, with the exception that the LVDS model need to keep enabled optimus.

 

For comparison, from the Fire Strike score.
P5000 is about 60% faster (I scored around 11,250) and M5000M is even about 15% faster (I score around 8,000).

 

you are only comparing overall score which is a result of CPU and GPU, graphics score is a lot more meaningfull when we are comparing only gpu performance, for example you can have a GTX970 along with a poor 4c/8t cpu performing the same overall firestrike score as a GTX670 and an 8c/16t cpu

In summary of performance (I compared FPS result of your P5000 firestrike run):
P5000=1.28*P4000=1.9*P3000
0.8*P5000=P4000=1.5*P3000
0.52*P5000=0.67*P4000=P3000

Ok, finally my time to post. I've done the upgrade of my m6800 from FirePro m6100 to Quadro P3000. The card came from HP, got it from ebay for 150$ + shipping. Had to order heatsink for nvidia and since it was the usual one - had to grind some cooper to make it fit the card. Before buying the card, I've checked my config on dell support using my tag and it seemed that I've eDP version (which was the case when I've seen panel cable marked as eDP while disassembling). Now, the 1st start went without any errors (I had switching graphics enabled by default). The next steps were followed by the book: back up rom, disable rom protection, flash the image from techpowerup, enable rom protection. Rebooted, nothing changed. Downloaded dell quadro drivers from the support page, moded the driver (choose p3000 with optimus as described in one of posts in this thread, took some time to find that post btw). Rebooted windows with digital signatures check off, installed the driver, rebooted and we are done.
The card was set up, but I suppose I've messed up somewhere in the process because I still had amd drivers in the system, done some clean up using DUU and I'm not sure if it helped....

Now, I've checked a couple of games and they are working, but WoW classic stopped working and this disappointed me...
The game process starts, but the game window is not getting created.... In the gx.log the last line is saying that it tries to create the window with specific properties (res, pixel format) and the renderer used is d3d11

This kind of puzzles me, is that problem of broken windows 10 after having some amd leftovers or is that compatibility issue of WoW not supporting quadro cards...

Any thoughts/suggestions?

P.S. For now, the next step which is possible as I see it, is reinstalling windows...

 

I would see if there is any way to reset the WoW config and see if that takes care of the problem.
Also, go to Windows Settings -> System -> (scroll down) Graphics settings, add a profile for WoW and make sure that it is set to run on the "High performance" GPU.

Were you running the game before at a resolution less than 1080p? Intel graphics doesn't support a lot of resolutions unless you add them with a custom tool. (Even if the NVIDIA GPU is doing the rendering, the Intel GPU is doing the display.)

 

Resetting WoW config - tried it to no success. Thought that needs more playing around...

I didn't know about Setting -> Graphics settings, but I've tried to define this in the nvidia control panel so that WoW uses nvidia GPU. I see that I've managed to force battle.net launcher to run on GPU (it appeared in the nvidia utility which shows what apps use GPU), but no luck with WoW client. It just stubbornly won't appear there...

As for resolution - I've always run it in display original res 1080p, so no worries on this point.
