Thanks for the feedback guys ! :)
I've just ordered one, I just hope the screen will be great (not grainy or uneven backlighting).

Well, I've just received my laptop today and I'm disappointed. :(
From the moment I started the laptop, I knew I had a grainy display, which was then confirmed by looking at the manufacturer of the monitor. Unfortunately mine is LPL0AA8.
    I think I'll return it.

Sorry to hear that! Mine was built in Malaysia...where are you located? Yes, that really sucks to get a new machine and have to return it...I'd tell them what screen I wanted if you want another one. I've never seen LG screen myself.

I'm from France and mine was built in Ireland. From what I've read on this forum (especially the thread regarding the XPS 1530 grainy screen issue), it's really hard to ask for a specific screen brand to a rep. Apparently some people asked for a specific screen and got another one, so there's no way to be sure.

I really don't know what laptop I could buy, all I want is:
    - a centrino 2 laptop with a P9500 or T9400 processor
    - a good 1440x900 15.4' LED screen (not grainy)
    - nvidia graphic card (something above 8600M)
    - well built (something I can keep for several years)

I was interested by the new MBP but 2 things kept me from buying it (linux support is not great, and the price is a little too much to get a 2.53GHz processor), then I looked at the T500 from Lenovo but the ATI graphic card and the lack of LED screen made me change my mind.
And now I'm looking at the laptops from Sony but I really wonder, am I asking too much ? :(

You're kind of in the same predicament I was in really...I'd say lenovo but the screen rules it out...but, the other option are the higher end HP business Laptops...can't remember the screens. The Lenovo T400 has your screen pretty much but the GPU is fairly weak. I'd check HP business models. 8530W? or whatever the new one is...not cheap :D Somebody needs to tell those Iricans to quit putting LG screens in this unit! :D
