    Ivar thank you
I crossed fingers and command the adapter there is space under the disc. I hope it returns.

    I tested SETFSB and X1 operates a 120 bus is ok:p

    Hello

I have just installed a 2GB transcend module in my X1, and all works.
    But I wonder about something.
I run Vista Business, and in Control Panel -> System, windows reports 2,25GB of ram. But shouldn't it report only 2 GB?
Does this mean that even though BIOS only sees 2GB, windows can see all 2,25GB of ram and furthermore make use of it?
If this is the case. Is there a posibility that a 4GB module would work as well?

    brgds

I saw something similar with the Sony G11 (Intel 945GMS chipset which can address a maximum of 2GB). The G11 had 512MB board. When I put 2GB in the single slot it showed 2GB as available although CPU-Z could see both bits of RAM (so the BIOS must also see both). I can't recall if Windows also reported 2.5GB on the summary page. Perhaps it's a case of summing the modules on board but not actually counting the RAM in the modules.

Somehow the chipset could figure out how to use 2GB and ignore what it couldn't address.

Ivar, I tried using the latest SetFSB program with that PLL ID (for the Samsung X20) without any luck. The program crashes whenever I try using it. Could you walk me through exactly what you did to get it to work? I'd REALLY appreciate it. Thanks, David

Do you mean that using Transcend brand memory is crucial, or something else?

This is interresting. Was there any other differences between the two modules in terms of configuration?

Which memory configuration do the ones that have succeeded have?

    I have just ordered a:
    Corsair Value DDR2 SO-DIMM PC5300 2048MB,Unbuffered,Non-ECC,2x128Megx64,CL5,667mhz

Hope this works, I will report back here after trying it.

Did the disk fit now? I am also interrested in installing a SSD drive in my X1 and are looking for which components to buy.

I am looking forward to the availability of these drives:

They seems like a good and viable upgrade path at a reasonable price.

I don't have any luck with that program no matter what I do. It always gives me a PLL ID error, or some sort of SMBus error. Incidentally, Vista shows 2.25gb of RAM when I installed my 2gb stick, but whether or not it is actually able to use it all I am not sure. It may be the same issue as Vista reporting a full 4gb RAM but only being able to address/use 3.5gb or so in 32 bit laptops that have 4gb RAM.

Anyone else get setFSB working on their X1??

The 2GB is probably a chipset addressing limitation but the BIOS is able to detect and report all the RAM. I had a similar experience with the Sony G11: 2GB in the slot and 512MB on board were both visible in CPU-Z, but Windows can only use 2GB since that is all the 945GMS chipset can address.
