Getting 64-bit vista from Dell?

    No. Holders of OEM Microsoft licenses cannot go to Microsoft for support with Windows, they have to seek the technical support from the vendor (in this case Dell). So they are basically telling you, that you are on your own, and also, they are not obliged to provide the 64-bit drivers (though they are often available from Dell anyway for different laptops).

    It is actually irrelevant. When was the last time you called Microsoft or Dell with a problem on Windows? I have been using MS home and server products for almost two decades and I have done it just once in my entire career for a real serious work-related issue (and they still couldn't fix it--I did it myself eventually).

    True, I would probably go on google or forums.

    I was thinking along the lines of, for example, the dvd drive going out. When they find out your on vista 64, they say sorry, we can't help you.

    So that wouldn't happen, right?

    64-bit Vista hasn't stopped them from giving me support for my Studio 15.

    That's not a legit excuse for not giving your hardware based technical support.
