    I notice the fan on this E6220 when I am gaming or doing processor intensive tasks, but normally it barely makes a peep. My old Inspiron, however, has a faulty fan, and it makes a horrendous racket as it attempts to spin up, and the bearings grind. Might have a faulty fan, but it will cycle RPMs very quickly.
