Just try running with one so-dimm first, if the problem still occurs, change it with the other one. Why spent money ;-)

I try to avoid all the (old) dell drivers and download from the manufacturer directly. No problems here with latest intel en nvidia drivers.

Did you try to turn optimus off to see if it's the intel chip or nvidia one? Perhaps you can exclude some issues.

No errors found in the windows event log? Possible windows issues? Using an external screen also gives the problems?

I want to replace the keyboard on my E6520, I have checked the service manual and it mention to remove the bottom cover and then the keyboard trim.
From your experience is it necessary to remove the bottom cover to change the keyboard?
I do not see on the manual any screws holding the keyboard from the bottom side/cover.

    Thank you.

EDIT: Checking again at some pictures I think 3 screws holding the bottom cover might also hold the keyboard too, is this right?

I have just got the following error message in Diagnostics:

    Error Code: 2000-0415

    Validation: 56619

    Check LCD cable

Dou get the same error warning?

    Thanks!

EDIT: The error is related to the new Bios (A7 & A8) Diagnostic false positive - Lcd Cable, went back to A06 and no more error showing in Diagnostics.

    More info here.

    Hi all,
I bought my dell latitude 6520 after going through this thread over last sunday.
I purchased dual core i5 based system with 1600*900 screen upgrade.
    I have couple of questions.
    1) Can I upgrade wireless card?
Its running dell 1501 which seems to be basic wifi card.,I have wifi N network at home.Shall i update the Card?

    2) any point in installing Gobi cards?
I have EVDO access as well as HSDPA access here in India. Can I install GObi card and use it ?or it needs to come from factory install?
does it have sim slot available by default?

    3) Is processor upgradable to core I7 Quad core?
    with heatsinc upgrade offcourse?

    4) which ssd is recommended for latitude e6520.
    I think 34nm is more reliable than 25nm .
    which one you suggest?
I think crucial c300 makes good candidate , which one you suggest?
    both 34nm and sata 6gbps.

    thanks guys.

    Hi!

See my answers between the questions.

    1) Can I upgrade wireless card?
Yes you can. You can put the 6xxx range from Intel in it. Check the number of antenna wires. I don't know if Dell puts 3 in it when you buy one with a dual antenna card. 2 wires: the Intel 6200, otherwise intel 6300. Very reliable cards.

    2) any point in installing Gobi cards?
    Can't help you, sorry.

    3) Is processor upgradable to core I7 Quad core?
Yup, someone here on the forum (Khenglish) even put a 2920xm in it. The cooling system is a bit different like you allready said. With a factory default I7 Quad core, the cooling is different. Some pictures are in this thread ;-) I don't know if the 2920xm guy (Khenglish) upgraded his cooling. He can probably help you.

    4) which ssd is recommended for latitude e6520.
I own a Crucial M4 drive, perfect drive. I know the discussion about 34/25nm but I prefer to buy the newest. It works fine.....

Good luck and have fun with your E6520.
