Thanks Edit1754, Yes I will be getting 1920x1080. Just still deciding. I think the M4600 is bit smaller and looks nicer but more expensive and the E6520 is cheaper but I heard is quieter - so still deciding (another thing is the M4600 has USB3 and can accept more memory ) ... decisions decisions  :)

    Hi,

Just wondering, I ordered my e6520 but it seems it does not have USB 3 standard on it? I've heard you can optionally choose an optional USB 3 add on but that option is nowhere to be seen in my options menu here in Belgium.

I bought this laptop for virtualisation, so having speedy port connections is absolute key or my quad processor is just going to waste (eSata drives seem to be difficult to find as well, it's all USB3 now).

Are you guys confident that all e6520 don't have a USB 3 connection?

    Many thanks

    Unfortunately not

It hints to it on the description:

Any possible way in buying this optional USB 3 module myself? I have seen some posts about an optional "caddy" to add another hard drive?

Yes absolutely. Have a search for expresscard 54 usb 3.0 and you should find a number of results. You can also fetch the hard drive caddy from places like ebay and they're quite inexpensive

What's the optional module not something you had to swap with your optical drive? Using the internal SATA connector sounds faster than an express card.

Just use eSATA...its just as fast and doesn't need any extra modules. Buy a eSATA/USB3 external drive/enclosure.

Yes, it is. I ordered my USB 3.0 E-Module with my E6520. You get 2 USB 3.0 ports in this E-Module. I bought my E6520 in a collective students order, so we had a different entrance to the Dell-shop.
Actually, i looked up my configuration in the official German and US Dell-shops and couldn`t find the USB 3.0 E-Module in the German sector (perhaps its the same for Belgium), but there is one E-Modular USB 3.0 [$50.00] in the US. And there is no possibility to get it from the accessories yet :(
And the prices, the prices  The prices in Europe are the same numbers, as in the US, but instead of dollars there are Euros :(

Any help on turning off the thermal BIOS?

    It's FN+SHIFT + 1,5,3,2,4 (you get blinking lights)

But then I hit FN+SHIFT+ R and it doesn't work. Nothing happens. Am I doing it right, should I let go of FN+SHIFT after the number sequence and re-press? Do I hit it right away or wait 5 seconds? Help!

    Thanks,
