I repaste my 2720QM with Aritic, then the full-load temperature drops more than 10 degrees. But after about 4-5 months, the temperature gets warmer again:confused: . So I repaste again. Then the temp drops again:D

You'll see in my previous posts that my i5-2520 idles around 60oC, but when I put a load on it (e.g. gaming) temps skyrocket to 80-90oC. Very hot.

I may try some AS ceramique or something and see if that helps. Is there a thermal pad on there now? I've always thought that thermal pad interfaces were hard to replace with paste due to the large gap for making contact with the heatsink.....

Here 82 ~ 86C with the 2720QM at max, running prime95 for some minutes. Ambient temperature around 20C. I repaste the cpu/gpu btw.

Perhaps cleaning your cooling mechanism is also a solution.

Thanks, I will monitor the temps for the time being as they are not to far off from what I read from your feedback.
I have already cleaned the fan as much as I could without removing it...
The only negative point is that to remove the fan I have to remove the all heat sink and therefore would need to repaste the CPU.
In my older precision the fan was very easy to remove and clean properly.

I have not checked temp.s on mine but when I opened my laptop to install WWAN, I found something nasty.
copper piping which is attached to heat sinc is of poorest quality componentI have seen.

its not copper but its copper coated.

its showing signs of wear off in span of 3-5 months in my use.

    Interesting..
My one looks OK, get them to replace it.
May be it is just the latest BIOS (12) which make the CPU ran hotter...will try to reverse to A6 and post any temp change if applicable.

    Hi Chris,

Repasting your cpu and gpu is really peanuts. Just a couple of screws to remove all heatsink stuff. Clean the gpu and cpu first with some kitchenpaper and remove the rest with some fluid alcohol. Clean the fan also.

Buy some good paste and enjoy :) Solves a lot of irritation and time I guess...
