I can't give you the link since it was already loaded and Dell site doesn't appear to have a link for it.

There are 4 modes:Outdoor, Presentation, Video, and Airplane with the additional option of turning off the WiFi.

I've experienced a certain smell each time the fan turns on in my laptop. Smells sorta like burnt plastic but not exactly. Has anyone experienced this?

Didn't have the time to speak on the phone with a service rep but got on dells support chat and said it's either a motherboard or fan issue.

Yeah, my E6420, my dad's E6420, my boss's E6420, and two customer E6520s all had a weird smell. All were Outlet purchases.

Were you able to do anything about the smell?

Sometimes a piece of tape or fastener or fastener of some kind is placed too closely to a very hot section of the motherboard. I had a laptop years ago that had a burning type smell and when I removed the cover, found that a piece of tape holding down a wire was too close to the video chip. I removed it and placed it further away from the area and the smell went away. Maybe worth a check.

I'm looking at purchasing a new E6420 but am wondering when the E6430 will be released. Any ideas?

Not tomorrow and probably not next week. Manufacturers are just starting to announce and release their Ivy Bridge machines so I am sure Dell will follow suit but anyone's guess is just that...

A source at Dell told me it would be July/August and there will be a chassis refresh as well as Ivy Bridge processors.

So let me get this straight: the E6420 supports 16GB in 2 DIMM configuration??

Both the Dell and Crucial websites would have me believe otherwise and it has been holding me back from even considering the E6420.

If I can get 16GB + drive 3 external 24" monitors with a dock, I will be happy camper. Been looking at the 8460w but wouldn't mind having options.

So doing some more research: can I drive 3 external monitors with the E series dock with the 4200M?

Chassis refresh eh? That MAY have me hold out until later this summer to make my MacBook Pro purchase, depending on the design direction they go toward....:D
