Anyone figure out what the max ram is? Just took delivery today and would love to put two 8gb sticks but just want to confirm before I purchase.

Also I have scanned through most of this thread but anyone have any complaints about the high-res premium panel screen? I'm wondering if mine is defective. I can see pretty decent lines down each row of pixels. Might just be me being picky.

This document from Dell says max 8GB (assuming a 64bit OS of course). Page 121.

I'm pretty sure we had some here put 16GB and had it recognized.

Thanks. I'm gonna go ahead and buy one 4GB stick as well. RAM is so cheap nowadays.

One last question though... I'm not too familiar with laptop motherboard memory bus (busses in plural?)... Would 2x2GB enable "dual-channel" memory access and be faster than 1 x 4GB?
I assume not, since you went 1 x 4GB. I'm just curious as I built my own desktops for the past decade, and am not used to see single memory stick configs.
    Thanks

When you install two. Similar ram modules of same speed and all, it will run as dual channel.
    Enjoy your new. Ram.

How much faster dual channel may be is a subject of debate.

i've been using the machine pretty heavy for the past 48 hours. Haven't had one hiccup yet. I'll keep banging away at it, see if I can get a crash, but so far it's solid. Also, i'm amazed at how quiet it is, so long as you don't do any gaming, etc.

I found my nvidia/intel graphics E6420 to be far quieter than my intel graphics D630. It also manages heat far better than the D630. I expected it to be louder than it was when I was gaming, it was nothing that was overly intrusive at all.
