    Bokeh,

What screen do you have in the E6520? The FHD option is quite a cheap upgrade, and both FHD and HD+ are listed as 'Wide View' - wonder if this is IPS?

How many pins is the firewire connector?

Also, could you please test the DPC latency?

    Cheers!

Got the 1920x1080. Its WLED. Great screen and neutral, but Reds are not as good as rgbled backlit screens.

    Firewire is 4pin.

    Can check latency for you.

Will post more once an e6520 owners thread gets going. I am testing and using the new E series until the new M series comes out.

I upgraded to a Dell Latitude e6420 and received it on 3/29/11. My previous computer was a Dell Latitude e6410, although it wasn't the best computer, it is certainly much better than this e6420.

    What I do like:
    1) The larger touchpad...which supports gestures.

    What I don't like:
The fit and finish of the e6420 is extremely poor:
    1) The keyboard backlight is extremely uneven.
    2) The back cover separates from the case because the front half is secured by clips and not screws.
    3) The speakers are EXTREMELY quiet. I have them at maximum volume and I still struggle to hear in a quiet environment. This would have been half volume on my e6410.
    4) Its thicker than the e6410.
    5) The material on the palm-rest is a rubbery material.
    6) The large borders around the display, making the notebook unnecessarily large.

I am extremely disappointed with this new Latitude. I have owned a Latitude d810, e4200, e6400, e6410 and now this e6420.

This is the first time that I am actually going to send a new product back because its not as good as what I previously owned.

Dell is sending me a replacement notebook....after being transferred 8 times and talking to 9 people....no exaggeration!

    ARG!

Every day use seems about the same.

I typically spec my systems fairly high:

    e6410: i7 620M (2.66 Dual Core/4 Threads), 8GB DDR3, nVidia NVS 3100M, 1440x900, 64Bit Win7, Intel Wifi, Bluetooth, Webcam, Backlit keyboard, 9 cell, etc...
    e6420: i7 2720QM (2.2 Quad Core/8 Threads), 8GB DDR3, nVidia NVS 4200M, 1440x900, 64Bit Win7, Intel Wifi, Bluetooth, Webcam, Backlit keyboard, 9 cell, etc...

Windows performance scores are as follows:

    e6410/e6420

    Base Score: 4.9/4.7
    Processor: 6.8/7.5
    Memory: 5.9/7.5
    Graphics: 4.9/5.7
    Gaming Graphics: 5.9/4.7
    Hard Disk: 5.9/5.9

Yes, those numbers are accurate...the e6420's 'gaming' score is lower...

I typically defend the Dell brand and their recent blandness...but I am really disappointed.

    Meh, I'm not impressed.

You might want to put your computer in the High Performance or Ultra Performance power scheme and rerun the tests. There is a chance that you are seeing the gaming score from the on-cpu graphics card.

I set it to 'Ultra Performance' and nothing changed...

I also thought you guys might like some pics of the e6420's 'fantastic' build quality:
