    1)
20 days ago I bought a refurbished (scrach and dent ) E6420 with quadcore i7, 250gb 7200rpm ,4gb ram ,touchscreen ,card reader and etc for 550$ about 400 euros!!!The laptop is great!

In Greece it is like 1500 euros at least.

The laptop has only the popping edge problem but I don't care

    2) I have seen batteries on ebay that claim to be genuine:

    US seller

NEW GENUINE DELL E6420 E6520 9 Cell Battery 97Wh Extended Life Part No. M5Y0X | eBay

    Chinese seller

    Genuine 9-Cell Battery Dell Latitude E5520 E5420 E6220 E6420 M5Y0X T54FJ X57F1 | eBay

Has anyone tried these batteries? Can they be genuine?

    Just got e6420 from us outlet, around AUD530 delivered - it's a bargain :)

Samsung LCD panel (SEC Model 544b, MJ154 - 140KT) is terrible, really terrible :-(

Just wondering if someone knows the difference between:
    LP140WD1-TLA1
    LP140WD1-TLD1
    LP140WD1-TLM1

I'm waiting for a E6420 and I've been reading a lot in this thread. I have a question about the 1600x900 screen (I'm getting that one). Are they ALL terrible, or is it one of these damn lottery things (not sure which is worst)?

Also, I have an E6410 HDD caddy. Just something random off eBay. I'm really hoping I can use (at least in the beginning) it even if it'll look weird. Will I be able to?

AFAIK (based on internetz searching and this thread)
    LP140WD1-TLA1 - GLOSSY
    LP140WD1-TLD1 - MATTE
    I've never seen TLM1.

I have the high rez screen. IMO it's worth every penny and mine at least is pretty high quality. I haven't noticed anything bad about it.

As far as the HDD caddy goes, in theory, it should work. In practice though, I don't know if the bezel is the same size or not. I don't think it'll work though.

Yeah I wouldn't want the low-res screen for anything, I've just seen people here being pretty disappointed with the quality of the high-res screen to be sure!

Dell is using different LCD panels for their HD screens. Mine has Samsung LTN140KT (part number - KWTPY Module,Liquid Crystal Display,14.0HDF+,Light Emitting Diode,Low Voltage Differential Signaling,AG,A). Others got LG LP140WD1TLM1 (part number - GJ494 Liquid Crystal Display, 14.0HDF+, Light Emitting Diode, Low Voltage Differential Signaling, AG, Z, Lg Philips Lcd)

And quality of these screens is quite different.

For example, black color on my Samsung is terrible, I can't watch terminal window opened full screen, it just hurts my eyes.
