Is there a reason you don't get a desktop with a proper video card?

I would be very interested to hear if anyone would consider weighing the E6420 with and without the AC adapter?

Often there is a fairly big difference between marketing specs and actual travel weights... Oh and please indicate the type of battery and AC adapter used.

    Thanks,

    Fredrik

You are correct to doubt the marketing specs. The weight is 5lb 7oz according to this post (near the bottom). That's about 2.47kg in new units.

Also 2.47kg according to this post. The E6420 with 6 cell battery weighs more than the T420 with a 9 cell battery. It is also significantly heavier than the E6410. All weights would be without the AC adaptor.

I have returned my 6520 which I received few days back. The screen went blank on the very next day when trying to start the laptop. I see the lights on the base but I can't see the screen.

When returning (after obtaining a RMA# from dell), I observed that it's mad in China. The resolution and the screen were great on the first day but I didn't like the 6520. It looks not so nice and heavy. I can deal with the heavy part but not the not good looking part.

I liked 6410s and there are many in outlet with 20% (today is the last day) so not sure if I should buy it or wait for more coupons.

I see a bunch of pecision laptops (m4500) in outlet store but no coupons.

Does any one has opinion on 6410 vs M4500?

Had the same issue as well. Pull the AC and battery so there is no power to the laptop at all. Put it back in and the laptop will boot. Update to A02 BIOS. That fixed that issue for me.

    I already returned it today.

I felt it's too wide and heavy. What do people think of 6410?

Had the E6400, E6410 and now E6420. I won't get a 15" machine....always too big. I am adjusting to the E6420 and now really like it. I am working wtih a few people at Dell and the little quality issues are getting sorted out. I really like that I can have 2 (or 3 with a slice) batteries in this machine and get 8+ hours with a Core i7! The screen is nice and all in all I really like it.

E6420 #1: Wobbly base, uneven keyboard backlight. Contacted our Dell rep and they put it down to be replaced.
E6420 #2: The surrounding case came with nicks and dings and looked like it was not cut very well. Base was a little wobbly. Worked with our rep, some QC and manufacturing people up the chain and they said some issues had been found and hopefully resolved. Another replacement being shipped.
E6420 #3: Find out next week or so.

All thing considered Dell has been great. They are working with me and want things to be right. I can't complain. It's annoying....but they are doing the right thing.

Here are the pictures from my second E6420. First picture shows where the issues are and the 4th picture is the worst! The "cut" on the base is really bad.

I've been holding onto my E6420 till they get their manufacturing problems sorted. Any word if the wobbling cases are now universally fixed?

Also, I found an interesting problem. When I'm listening to music on my 2.5mm headphones and someone messages me on Skype the notification sound gets routed to my speakers and not my headphones. I checked my Skype setting and everything looks OK there. Sounds like a driver issue.
