I guess that's what I'm asking... I have the quad core i7 CPU, and the QM67 chipset, which supposedly supports it (Intel's data sheet doesn't say so but a number of reviews on hardware sites say so)...

Has anyone actually done this with the e6420? and with which mSATA drive?

I have to disagree with you on that. I have an E6420 and I love it. I also have an E6410 as well, I like them both. But the E6420 is much more sturdy than the E6410. That was the reason I got it. My E6410 has had more dispatches than a system should due to the inferior build quality. I've had the lid on my E6410 replaced four times because Dell couldn't get the latch right. I also had the bottom plastics and palm rest seperate for no apparent reason causing the latch button to get stuck. I still love my E6410, but it seems to be made of cheap plastic. The E6420 is a great machine.

In regards to all the complaints, I've read them all too. Dell seems to have fixed the bottom cover issue. On mine, the bottom cover is on so good that it's hard to remove. It seems that the clips are longer than they were at the beginning when it first came out. Keep in mind, that the E6410 has clips too, just more of them but in a different place.

I think the majority of the complaints are just nit-picking. I don't think Dell is trying to drive people to Lenovo, they made a really good machine with the E6420. My only complaints are that the backlit keyboard is just as lousy as it was on the E6410 (extremely cheap) and it's heavier than the E6410. That's okay by me, because it's a tank of a machine and can take a beating.

That's exactly the vibe I got when I had my E6420, especially since I was able to compare it to the E6400/6410's I worked on at work...the difference in perceived and (in many cases like the lid latch) actual quality was apparent. I'm kinda bummed they ditched orange accents because many thought they were "unprofessional" on the E6430, but at least it's clear that they listen to customer feedback.

I wonder if a 6420's keyboard surround would fit onto a 6430? I love the orange, actually wished they would have made a covet orange E6400/E6410. Why should the Precision line have all the fun? :p

My understanding is that the keyboard trim is compatible. I may be wrong, but I heard this somewhere. If you don't like your non-orange trim, you can always send it to me.

3g modem f5521gw Ericsson, which had previously stood in the Thinkpad T520 and worked fine, I decided to install a Dell latitude e6420, but it appears in Device Manager as an unknown device ...
The driver is also not fixed, says that the device is not detected ...
Are they locked by the manufacturer? If so then what is there a solution?

Okay, i was able to snag a lg lp140wd1

I did a direct swap in with the old lcd, but im getting a lot of discoloration

Could it be that the cable wasn't changed? I was really hoping not to have to rip the whole machine down just to swap the cable.

If your cable is not the dual channel LVDS version, you will have issues. If you are coming from the stock 720p screen, you must replace the cable.

    The i5-2520M will not support 32GB of memory. It's max is 16GB @ 1333MHz. Reference: ARK | Intel® Core
