    yyyyyeeaaaaa, not really.
Also, good luck finding a backlit keyboard for laptop that doesn't have this issue.

Like I said, I won't be getting the backlit KB when getting a new E6410 or E6510... :)

The problem is that form my eyes, backlit keyboard is soooo useful... in fact I'll never use a non-backlit keyboard laptop ever. Also, the keyboard flex less, and is quieter.

I got mine for free just by asking on the phone to the sells rep when I ordered my laptop, one of many free upgrades I got by negotiating (and price cut)

    Hi all,

I haven't been an active member in this community in ages, and I really appreciate the useful advice many of you contribute to this forum. I have just recently purchased a refurbished Dell Latitude E6410 via the Dell outlet channel, which offered an extraordinary deal I simply could not refuse. For a total of ~$850, the system is configured as follows:

    Operating System:
Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit (and I just recently purchased Windows 7 Business 64-bit :/ At least it was with the student discount)

    Processor:
    Intel i7 620m

    Memory:
    4GB 1066mhz DDR3

    Graphics Card:
    Nvidia NVS 3100m

    Wireless Card:
    Dell 1501 Wireless-N

    Display:
    WXGA+ 1440x900 wled display

    HDD:
    320gb 7200rpm hdd

    Optical Drive:
    8x DVD-ROM

    Battery:
    6 cell (60 whr)

    Add-ons:
    Backlit keyboard
    Integrated Webcam with digital microphone

    Warranty:
    Standard 3 year mail-in

Now, the purpose of this post is not to gloat about the deal. Rather, I had a question concerning the wireless card in this computer; namely, the Dell 1501 Wireless-N. I personally would like to upgrade this card to one of the Intel models, the Intel 6200 or Intel 6300. I have had great experience with Intel wireless hardware in the past in terms of reliability and performance, and would thus like to continue using their products. My question is whether upgrading to the Intel 6300 offers any real advantage over the Intel 6200. I realize that I would need to purchase an additional antennae to exploit this card to its potential, and the difference in price is roughly ~$10-15. Is it worth the upgrade to the Intel 6300, or should I just stick with the Intel 6200?

On the same note, can anyone make a recommendation for where to purchase an Intel 6200/6300? I know that eBay is always a route, but if someone could recommend a specific seller or retailer with whom they have had a good experience, I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

    Thank you in advance,
    Jake

Nice deal. :) The new models haven't yet appeared in the UK Dell Outlet.

Personally, although I share your preference for the Intel wireless cards, I would not go to the effort of putting one in unless the Dell wireless card shows problems with either compatibility or performance. Wireless networks rarely achieve their claimed speeds but this is rarely an issue unless you are trying to shift large quantities of data over the network.

I replaced my order because the Latitude ON Flash was holding the order by more than a month. The new order should ship next week!

That's odd. When I told Dell I didn't want it (I doubt I'll ever use it and I
was trying to save a few bucks) they told me I didn't have a choice. The
    delivery estimate was 2-3 weeks.

I had ordered the Latitude ON FLASH upgrade, the Latitude ON Reader is standard and non-removable.
