I can't comment on the GPU, as I don't have the E6410, but rather the E6400, which features a lower end GPU.
The graphic card features a power managemnet system, similar to the ones from the CPU, Nvidia's calls it PowerMizer. It downclocks your GPU when not in used, and increase it's speed up to it's normal speed on a higher demand (more you demand the GPU the higher the clock speed up to it's normal speed).

At lower clock speed the GPU consumes much less power, which save battery life.

On Battery, PowerMizer is a bit more restrictive, what I mean is that it will take a longer period of higher demand to clock the GPU faster.

Given that USB 3.0 is far less of a quantum leap than the gulf between USB 2.0 and 1.0, I'm inclined to say that there is no great hurry for the general introduction. I'd wager that 3.0 will be universal by 2012, at which time eSata will go the way of Firewire.

Whoops.....the E6410 still has a Firewire port - long after Apple, the primary proponent of 1394 gave it up for dead. Of course, there's also that as well as a dual USB/eSata port that is mostly useful as a USB port.

Personally, I wouldn't defer any computer purchase for the sake of the USB 3.0 general roll-out. It's going to happen sooner or later, and my dark suspicious is that there's going to be a whole lot of 3.0 standard hardware shipped long before it's supported.

Why not buy an E6410 now if you want it and get a USB 3.0 Expresscard adapter?

Hopefully, Notebookcheck will eventually do a definitive test on the E6410. Of course, the general conclusions will be similar to the E6400 test:

Sounds like a plan. Now to call Dell and discuss the price...

Well, I also just placed my order for an E6410, delivery expected in a
    couple of weeks.

I would like to repeat what I picked up here, that it is better to phone
in the order instead of doing it online. You get access to more options
and can discuss the price. I'm happy.

I recommend to fellow Canadians that they contact Shareef LaBreche
at Dell Canada. Patient and helpful. Unlike the first lady I got on the
phone he's probably Canadian judging from his accent, or lack thereof,
    so communicating was easy.

Now to spend two weeks dreaming about how I'll be setting up my machine...

Just got my E6410 yesterday. This is my 2nd laptop I have bought and I am extremely happy with it.

It's a lot lighter than I thought it would be. Here are my specs:

    i5-520M
1 GB (had 4GB ready to go)
    160GB 5400rpm (had 320GB 7200rpm ready to go)
    WXGA+
    webcam
    bluetooth
    intel wireless (6200)
    Nvidia 3100
    9-cell
    DVD R/W

I really like the screen quality. The screen is still clearly visible at the lowest brightness setting (even outdoors).

I haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life with the Nvidia card, but so far after an hour or so I am down to 80% from installing software, light web browsing, and charging my phone through USB.

Two thumbs up for this laptop so far.

Congratulations on your purchase. I know some folks have mentioned this in the earlier posts bit I would like yor thoughts on the weight. Would u be able to measure it by placing it on a regular home weighing scale?
    Thanks a lot!

Is anybody else having issues with the sound skipping and stuttering? It doesn't always happen but when it does, it persists for a few minutes with a skip or a pop every few seconds.

First thought.....look for a sound driver update on the Dell support website? At least, that's the first thing I'd try. You can check your current driver version in Device Manager, although I do have the impression it's best to update directly from the Dell website.

    I'll comment further tomorrow.
