I found out I don't need a new CMOS battery. I solved the problem by finding a setting my Linux OS's time/date area. I set the system clock and the other clock (I guess the hardware clock?) and all is OK now--> there's no strange hour showing up in the BIOS time/date entry.

is it that the time is always off by a constant no of hours then you should have got your timezone incorrect. usually the blos time is set to UTC where as the clock shows local time, a defined offset from UTC.

    Hello,

I have a problem with my E6410 LED screen. This is the second exact same screen failure, with the replacement screen failing after just buying it in October 2013. What happens is the screen displays numerous vertical and horizontal discolored lines across most of the screen while a small section remains normal.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is wrong or how to fix it?

    Please see photo here: IMG_3575.jpg

I babied this laptop, so I never dropped it or treated it poorly. It is not a problem with the graphics card as I can use the VGA and HDMI ports to display normally on another screen, and the signal cable from the motherboard to the screen control board was already tested fine. No loose connections either and I doubt it is an overheat issue as I clean it repeated and apply fresh thermal paste, plus I watch the temperature sensors as I run it and it never goes above 87 C degrees.

    It is a 14.1" LED LP141WP2(TP)(A1) HD+ 0875VK panel, with 30 M pin Matte 1440x900 resolution.

    Thank you!

Did you replace the LCD cable when the LCD was replaced?

Yes, both the replacement and the original work, but I kept the replacement inside.

I have the standard faux "brushed aluminum" cover but am thinking about replacing it since it is dinged up a bit, does anyone know if the ATG LCD Back Lid Cover would fit?

It'll fit, but at the minimum, you'll need the back cover, hinges, and bezel.

I had 3-4 screens fail with your exact issue. Much of my problems have been highlighted in this thread.

I changed display cable/display...I did everything and the screens would just fail within 3-4 months of purchase.

I eventually decided to change my motherboard when I made my last screen purchase. All has been well since then

I also had the exact led panel. I switched to the AUO for good measure.

    Merlin, dont do it.

With the ATG cover, only 3 screws out of 4 that holds the LCD will screw in. The actual LCD itself is different so you will end up with only 3 screws being able to tight in. You cant even give it a mod without distorting the screen. And you will end up with but black bar on the top of screen for not fitting correctly.

In other words, you wont like it. Trust me I tried... And yes you have to have ATG bezel.

Ah, good info to know, thanks. I am thinking about going with the blue lid as a replacement, any opinions on that lid? From the pics that I can find, it doesn't have the "brushed" texture?
