E6410 Owner's Thread

I went with this one: Philips
It fits the E6410 (with the 6 cell battery) and it's really sturdy (hard case).

 

I got the Dell 14'' sleeve. It's a perfect fit, it's really good quality and when I bought it it had a competitive price relative to other brands.

 

I`d second that.






The only thing that I don`t like that much is, that it is built to fit the E6410 with the 9-cell Akku, so it`s a little bit to big for the E6410 with the 6-cell Akku.

 

Thanks, that would be very interesting. Could you possibly compare the effectiveness of the anti-glare coating in outdoor situations (especially direct sunlight) too? Some reviewers say that the matte MBP screen is still more reflective (and hence less suitable for outdoor use) than other matte screens.

all i can say is that the 6410 is perfectly suitable for outdoor use

at home i use it at only 60% brightness without any problems

 

Does the power cord for the D630 work with the E6410? I have an extra one that would be cool to use.

 

From my knowledge all Dell PSU (power supply unit) are interchangeable between systems. Unless it's a really old one. The only thing that you should look for is that the Wattage is the same (higher should be fine, but I never tried it, and don't want to recommend it, in the case for some reason the PSU actually output a higher Wattage and not based on the computer needs, and fries your computer).

The Latitude E6400/E6500/E6510/E6410 uses a 90W PSU.
If you use a lower wattage PSU, your system will still work under it, however the following effects or combination of effects may happen:
- Reduce functionality (you have to choose either recharging your battery or having your computer turn on)
- System slows down at minimal speed, and stay at that point to use the least amount of energy, so that the can operate with only a 65W PSU.

 

Thanks. I have 90watt PSU's so I think I should be fine there. I have been using Dell D630 power cords with Latitude E6400's at work with no problem, but wanted to make sure there wouldn't be any long term damage from doing that. The power cords shipped with E6400's are a lot slimmer than the ones shipped with D630's so I wanted to know if the difference was more than skin deep.

As I am not Dell, and have not tested this at a long term level, I can't promise you that it won't affect your system under long term usage.

 

Jackz, is the 2006 MBP similar to the 2008 MBP matte screen? My sister has the latter, and it looks quite impressive.
