I was pretty settled on the E6400 before the release, but when prices came out, I realized that the M2400 was a far better buy. But now, the T400 prices are dropping like flies!!!

For around 1300 CDN, you get the same specs as the E6400 (except for video card), more ram, finger print reader, camera, and a 9 cell battery to boot! The Dell, even after EPP, will cost me 1450+. What is even more ridiculous is that the E6400 costs the same as the M2400. The Dell has 3 year warranty, but it is slightly negated by the extended warranty Visa provides anyway (2yr vs 3yr). Lenovo pricing is seriously killing my desire to get a Dell. Who is in the same boat?

Yea, I got mine for a bit higher price....since the price has not dropped significantly.....I called to get price match done to get the new lower prices for my order.

In Europe the Lenovo pricing quickly killed my interest in the T400.

I ordered an E6400 on Monday, saw the prices of the Thinkpads on Tuesday, and promptly cancelled my order with Dell. I liked the Display Port option on the Dell (I don't know what Lenovo was thinking:mad:), but I saved over $500 (Cdn) with the T400 so I can easily get a dock and still save a ton over the Dell. Plus the Thinkpad has switchable graphics and DDR3 ram.

If they were the same price, I would definitely choose the Dell, but all things considered the Thinkpads are just too great of a deal right now.

I'm glad I'm not the only person with the same dilemma. It turns out everyone went lenovo, and I think I'm gonna do the same soon.

Aren't the Dell E6400s considerably lighter?

Starting at 4.3 lbs. .....sounds like half a pound but I swear that my macbook pro is 5.4 lbs, but compared to a 6 pounder, it's like night and day. I'm wondering if the E6400 will end up feeling alot lighter than the T400s.

The weight of 4.3lbs for E6400 is with 4 cell battery and SSD HDD. I think with the 6 cell, the weight will be around 4.8lbs.

The weight of the T400 starts at 4.5lbs, assuming 4 cell battery. With the 9 cell, it is 5.3lbs. I think with the 6 cell, the T400 will be around 5lbs. 0.2lbs isn't justified by the 300+ dollar difference.

I just pulled the trigger on the T400. 1427.63 taxes included (we have 13% here in Toronto). For the same E6400/M2400, I would be looking at 1700+ CDN.

Yeah, I really wanted the E6400, but there the price difference gives me no excuse to get one. Maybe dell will bring down the price of the E6400 in response? I think I'll wait for a while to see.

    sigh...

    same here...

    I'm considering the E6400, M2400 or T400.

I don't mind getting any one of the three as, for me, they are all great machines.

It all boils down to the price. I'm still contacting several local dealers.

    sigh...
