E6400 Keyboard Swap

Hi!
Can I swap non-Back-lit keyboard for Back-lit Keyboard?

There are some very nice systems @ outlet, but w/o Back-lit Keyboard

 

Yeah, you should be able to. Good luck finding a backlit keyboard on its own, though.

Not sure. If you can find the part number you probably can, but it'll almost certainly be overpriced.

 

The keyboard is quite easy to remove / replace / change (see the E6400 Service Manual for details). It is unusual because it does not use a ribbon cable connector.

Someone in another thread had found a supplier (other than Dell parts) for the backlit keyboard.

Hey there... I have a back-lit keyboard for the e6400 for sale... I ordered it from Dell parts but don't need it since I bought an outlet system with a back-lit keyboard with the new 20% coupon. If someone wants to buy it from me before I send it back, let me know. Make me an offer. I paid about $65 after tax.
