E6400 is about $500 more than ThinkPad T400. What gives?

I'm also debating between the new Latitudes and the T400s, but without any coupons it is too expensive compared to the T400s I can get with EPP.

Just for fun (sort of), I configured a E6400 and a E6500 on the Dell.ca site and came with the a E6500 that's only $30 more than the E6400. Given that, from what I see, the E6500 has a better webcam, sounds lke E6500 is clearly a better buy?

Of course, the fact both systems are well over C$2,000 (before taxes/shipping) means that in fact, NEITHER is a good buy at all! :D

Am going to try to configure it on the US site and see what the comparable price is....if calling a rep. means a big discount to match US prices (which I assume will be much lower), that would be awesome....

p.s. For the E6500, the process is listed as a "T9500" whereas for the E6400, it's a "P9500". I assume that's simply yet another typo on the Dell site, and in fact, both are the same P-series process (i.e. 25W) one?

Something's funky on Dell's site. Isn't the E6500 supposed to be a 15.4" laptop? The drawing of it shows 15.4". But when I go to configure it, all the options for the screen are 14.1".

Hmm...you are right, Spoon. I just noticed that in my test configurations above, the E6500 lists a 14.1" LED screen.....

Anyway, just finished configuring on the US site, and a comparable E6500 (with an discrete NVIDIA video card no less) is over $400 cheaper (give or take a little, esp. since our C$ is no longer worth as much as it was just a few months back....)!!!
