Hi All, I would like to order E6400 and wonder if anyone knows the dimension & weight between 6-cell vs 9-cell battery. How is 9 cell compared to 6 cell? I honestly don't want the battery to add dimension/size of the laptop.

Well, it adds both weight and "dimension" as you may guess.

It's something like 5.1 vs 5.7 lbs for the 9 cell and the latter sticks out of the back (picture below).

Give me a little bit...I need to measure it anyway. I have the 9-Cell.

From the spec sheets it says the 9-cell is a wee bit thicker than the 6-cell. Does it still flush with the underside of the laptop? Or it sticks a couple of mm out from the underside?

Does it matter? You have rubber feets there anyway.

how much more life does the 9-cell typically get than the 6-cell?

For the Latitudes, you can judge based on just short of an hour per cell for light usage.

    So 5-5.5 hours on a 6 cell and 8-8.5 on a 9 cell.

My initial estimates are 8-9 hours with the 9-cell battery. Now, I haven't had a chance to really test that since I only really started playing with the notebook yesterday.

The LED screen is incredibly bright! So I can turn it down to almost minimum brightness and save a lot of power that way.

BTW, I measured the laptop with a postal scale...it says that it is 5.625 lbs or so. It isn't super accurate, but 5.6-5.7lbs is my official measurement.

Sweet. I'd probably net about 4 to 5 hours with the stuff I do then off the 6-cell.

Check with John Ratsey, he's done extensive battery testing with his 6-Cell...his review details most of it.
