you could also just start up the webcam alone... to record something of yourself.. or if you wanna sing a happy birthday song to your family.. or if you wanna just admire yourself "on camera".. :D :D

Heheheh Thats exactly what I wanted to do....

Explain it to me like I'm a 3 year old... how do I do that...
There is no webcam in "My Computer" I looked in the cam software but I didn't see anything in there either...

That webcam software isn't on my E6400, just a driver and a program for adjusting the picture.

I have a friend with a webcam in his Inspiron, so I'm going to try and borrow the disk to see if the software works.

I thought it was just me. My E6500 has the webcam, and the Dell Webcam central installed...but way to run the webcam through the Dell Software.

The webcam does work with chat applications though.

Seems the E6500 has a lower resolution webcam than does the other 'non-business' laptops.

The E6500 didn't come with the Dell Webcam Manager software either. It's not listed as 'compatible' with the E6500 on the Dell Website, but I downloaded and installed anyway.

It installed and loaded fine, but it doesn't find the webcam. So then I tried to re-install the driver (Several different drivers, several different ways) and the same result.

I'll dig a little more, but I'm going to assume since the E6500 is a 'business' product, and it doesn't have the higher resolution webcam as does the 'personal' laptops, it's probably just meant to work with Video chat. That would mean that using the camera to take video etc would not be as easy as the other Dell Webcam.

    Try this in the meantime

    Google YAWCAM
Free, worked fine with Vista, took 5 minutes to install and works great.
