Anyone tried this with successful results on M4400 ?

I have put a Dell Wireless 5530 MiniCard into my new M4400 - but cannot seem to find any information to whetever it workes in google maps or not.

    Thanks in advance :)

Do you have the GPS card working at all, i.e. can you open COM7: at 1200 baud (or whichever number on your system) with hyperterm and see the NMEA sentences?

Then check you are getting a proper fix with the free or eval version of VisualGPS

If that works too then you either need Google Earth Pro instead of the Free version, or a 3rd party GPS plugin

So how would you get the gps card to work? I'm reinstalling windows now to see if it shows on device manager. currently, no com7 in the list at all.

    I had to install 5530 driver v4.48.1.9001
and the Sony Ericsson Wireless Manager (intended for the Mini9)

What do you see under device manager?
I get all these loaded for the 5530 card

    Thanks for the help andy,

    heres a pic of mine.

no gps there. i've even tried controlpoint connection manager, there is a function to turn it on there. no joy.

looks like i'm back to the drawing board.

    i'm on a dell mini 9 btw.

That function in DCP never turned the GPS on for me, and I've removed DCP connection manager now, so dunno if it works in newer versions, since the latest update is 400MB I'm unlikely to put it back on again.

    Thanks.

Just a question though, did you always have the gps on com7 even before you tried to turn it on? Or was it only after the wireless manager that switched it on for you?

It was always there, I could open it with hyperterm or visualGPS, but it never received any NMEA data at all, until I used the SonyEricsson Software.
