I'm thinking about picking up a used Vostro V13 for a good price. But I can't seem to find any info about the speed of the Sata ports. Is the V13 Sata III or just II?

    Thanks

I mean the HD that is connected to the motherboard, will it run at Sata 3 speeds or Sata 2 speeds?

There's no way in hell it's sata3. Sorry man, very few laptops actually support sata3 atm. Ivy bridge equipped machines are starting to though.

If you're wondering if you can put a sata3 ssd in there, yes they are backwards compatible but you wont see sata3 speeds.

Aw ok Had to check. I can get a Vostro V13 with the Cuo 2 duo and a 64 GB SSD for $300 shipped in mint condition which is not a bad price for something I just want for email, web surfing and some movies and videos...as well as music..

Yeah not a bad deal, but at that price you probably shouldn't invest anymore money in it.

If you're just using it for media, you're definitely not going to notice a difference between SATA 2 and 3, so I don't know why it's an issue.

A core2duo could use all the help it can get to boot and launch applications.

All the more reason that the SATA bus speed isn't going to be a bottleneck in the system.

EDIT: I mean, I guess you can look at it from both sides, but I maintain that you won't notice a practical difference between the two.

In his particular case no, because it ships with a ssd. But in any other instance-- yes.

EDIT: glad you edited that because I was like ??
