    old they may be, but work they do, and most likely the dell ones are even older

    Why would the video card be the issue here BTW?

    its not the video card thats the issue

    its the drivers

    i dont fully understand why it is the issue, but this problem of laptops not waking up from suspend has been directly linked to bad vga drivers (make sure your not using the microsoft ones, must be using the nvidia ones)

    the issue is the video card drivers

    have you tried re-installing the drivers yet?
