    Guys,
In continuation of my previous help call on this site:
I am facing a strange problem. My Dell Vostro 1500 notebook does not turn ON on pressing the power button. The power light comes on for a fraction of a second and then its gone. Nothing happens. No CPU, No Fan, nothing.
This happens with or without the AC adapter attached.
Moreover, after some tries, (i.e after repeatedly pressing the power on button, tilting/shaking the notebook), suddenly the notebook turns ON and then I am able to work on it as if nothing has happened. But once I shut down the system, again while starting the same thing is repeated.

As per the advice of notebook pros, I have checked the RAMs, LAN card, and other connections and they seem to be fine. Could it be a problem with the power button itself?

the motherboard is probably screwed up. Call dell and have them come and fix it up. It may be a loose circuit but i doubt it.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery...waiting a few seconds and then reconnecting it?

I have the same problem. My motherboard has been change 3 times. Body was also changed. Memory RAM was changed. GPU was change. Nothing gives the result. Any idea?

I noticed that it's not turing on in cold enviorment. F.g. if it's hot in the room everything is fine, but when it's more cold (winter) the problem appears again...

That's not terribly cold, but it is very interesting. Sorry I have no idea how to help here.

Hah, you could make a heating pad out of rice, warm it up, and stick it under your lappy :)

It sounds like a loose connection. It could be anywhere.

...he may be on to something...this seems a bit far fetched, but things do expand as they get warmer, and contract as they cool. Perhaps there's a small piece somewhere that expands just enough to connect as it gets warmer...????

Hah! Told you it was far-fetched =)
