dimalife, my Toshiba Satellite Pro U400 (also a 13") has exactly the same behavior with the CPU temp and fan. I'm glad to have seen your report because now I can stop wondering whether I should have bought the 1310 instead. :) I guess that is just how the smaller models are, as leof says. Undervolting doesn't help on mine because it spends most of its time at 0.95V already and can't go any lower.

trwrt, the situation is similar here on the dell wrt minimum operating voltage at the SuperLFM setting.
For Vostro users, i want to add a note about I8kfanGUI, the fan control application for dells --
its "slow" setting is noticeably quieter than the one that runs @ 55c by default, but it can keep the CPU <55 during the same load that gets it to 55 very quickly. That said, the automatic temperature mode doesn't really work (constant freezing of the mouse), so currently you have to either control it manually, or let dell do its own thing. The application for me demonstrates some other quirks (maybe it's just for me, or maybe it's been addressed, i haven't checked) - even after the application is disabled, a shut-down reboot cycle is required to allow the dell settings to come back in place, otherwise it just remains on whichever settings it was last on in the I8k.. software

Can anybody confirm that the SD card slot is the kind where you just push the card in and pull the card out (as opposed to pushing in to click it out)? I had a pretty tough time trying to take out that plastic SD card space holder because I kept on pushing it in, hoping for it to click out. The reader actually works but I have to use my finger nail to pry it out. This is my 5th laptop and the first time I've encountered a problem like this.

You need to push in until it clicks. It's a bad design because there is nothing on the case to make that easier. You will have to push on it with your fingernail or something.
