Looks like there is a new BIOS version (A13)

Release notes. It appears to fix the no display on DVI during POST issue I've seen reported before.

I just tried it. No luck. I have my m6700 on a Pro2x dock. I can see the Post screen when it's connected by VGA, but not with DVI or Display port. After flashing to v.13, no change.

Edit: I just tried playing around to see if I could get the Bios screen to display on my external monitor while docked. No luck. Even tried rebooting to the Bios screen while the laptop was undocked, and then docked while it was in the Bios. Nothing. No signal.

    Try again Dell.

I have finally decided to buy an SSD (after learning the importance of HD speed the hard way, I have lived for over a year with a 5400rpm drive only :p)

I've decided to go for RAID0 for performance. First, I want to know if these are the right kinds of drives to look for:
    SSD 850 PRO 2.5” SATA III MZ-7KE512BW | Memory & Storage
OCZ Vector (EOL) SSD 2.5" SATA 3 6Gb/s
And SSD 840 EVO mSATA 120GB MZ-MTE120BW | Samsung Solid State Drives for the mSATA

    I have a few quiestions:
-Is there a good tutorial for installing them and set up RAID0 between the ssd and the msata?
-Is it good to install the SSD in the secondary drive and leave the old one in the primary drive (the one on the right side)?
-Which would you advise the Samsung PRO or the OCZ VECTOR? I have read the Samsung as being the best option, but the OCZ has slightly better write-speed in their website.
-From experience, is 500Gb necessary or is 250Gb+120GbmSATA enough?

    Thanks beforehand!

Personally, I would skip the RAID. Any SSD will be so much faster than your current HDD anyway. Unless you're trying to max out benchmarks, you may not even feel any difference.

RAID would really be a waste for an upgrade to SSDs. For my use (video editing) the additional bay is may times more valuable on its own. In any event, you should use identical drives when setting up a RAID.

I would always place the fastest drive in the primary bay, and relocate the OEM (or older drive) to the secondary bay. You'll need a cloning tool for this configuration.

Which additional bay you say is valuable on its own? the mSATA one? why? And I didn't know you needed identical drives, does that mean that mSATA + SATA wouldn't work?

So, basically, you're saying I should buy just an SSD and not an mSATA?

Also, do you have any advice about which is better the Samsung or the OCZ?

    Thanks for the help)

No, it means that would be an inefficient configuration since mSATA is significantly slower than the main bays, and cancelling any benefit you would get from RAID 0. If you're going to configure RAID 0 (unnecessary with the advent of SSDs), then you should at least consider getting the best out of it.

I purchased identical HDD when I was considering RAID 0 but chose separate SSD instead. That gave me the three separate drives I needed for a maximum video editing configuration. I have both speed and efficiency. I moved the dual 7200 rpm HGST Travelstar HDDs into an external drive for system backup instead, and put a third Travelstar in my optical bay for media storage.

Use bays 1 and 2 for RAID 0 since they're both SATA 6.

All my research at the time indicated that the Samsung was more reliable. In a business application or where time is money, that's the one I'd choose. In any event, I think either would be a good choice, which is why I have both.

    You're welcome

Also, are 2133MHz RAMs compatible with the Precision m6700? Namely these ones: Aiguamolls Btw, is there a reason for the two that come in the pair being different?
