This is what I'm using with no issues. I haven't had any BSOD issues with 320.92 or anything earlier in Windows 8.

327.23 is available from NVIDIA (NVIDIA DRIVERS Quadro Notebook Driver Release 325). BSOD for me.
326.80 is available from Dell's web site, this morning. BSOD for me.

Additionally I get the same BSOD when upgrading to Windows 8.1 using 320.92.

    [Edit]
As mentioned above, the BSOD is caused by nvkflt.sys. The version I have installed is version 320.00 (older than the current drivers) and it was installed on May 3, back when the 320.00 drivers were actually released. The minidump confirms that version 320.00 was in use at the crash. Newer drivers come with a newer version of this file, but for some reason, it is not being installed or loaded. Currently suspect the BSOD is caused by the incompatibility of the older nvkflt.sys with the newer drivers. For some reason, it just "happens to work" with other 320.xx versions.

    [Edit 2]
I bet that old file is hanging around because that's around when I disabled Optimus. Windows keeps a separate version of the driver around because the graphics card shows up as a separate device depending on whether Optimus is enabled or disabled. The "Optimus enabled K5000M" must still be on 320.00.....

    BSOD issue resolved...

    - Enable Optimus.
    - Boot it up, check device manager; sure enough, there is the K5000M running the old 320.00 driver.
    - Go to safe mode, device manager, remove K5000M.
    - Disable Optimus, go to normal mode. Everything still works....
    - Install NVIDIA 327.23 driver and reboot. No problems.

Moral of the story... if you switch Optimus off and on, watch out for old drivers hanging around.

I will try the Windows 8.1 upgrade again after a full backup tonight.

All i can say is treat it with kid gloves - i don't think i am the only one to have this problem

Dell Precision M6700 Gorilla Glass Broken - Laptop General Hardware Forum - Laptop - Dell Community

looks like an identical situation to mine...with an equally useless response from dell...

otherwise, this is the best computer i have ever owned...and the lcd is fine, just the glass out front is cracked...will have to see if i can persevere with it as is...

    all the best mate

Windows 8.1 install completed with no issues. Well, there was the issue where the store wouldn't open anymore. Fixed that with a powershell command that someone else found.

powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.xml

All devices / drivers seem to work fine. Again, using fingerprint reader driver from the M6800. Fingerprint reader is much quicker now with the native support in Windows 8.1. I also notice that I have the option to authenticate using the fingerprint reader when connecting to another machine via remote desktop. Haven't actually tried it yet.

Liking the option to have "small" size tiles on the start screen. I can cram a lot more apps on there now. Otherwise it's mostly the same. Looking forward to playing with the Miracast feature once I get my hands on the equipment.

    Hi guys,

I am having a full blow panic attack here, and I would love some help. I disabled optimus in the bios, and now I have no screen output. No post, not internal monitor, no hdmi and no display port.

Does anybody know te key sequence to reset the bios. I know you have to start with F12, but which buttons do you have to press after that te reverse the reset it?

I am unable to disconnect the cmos battery.

I would greatly appriciate some help.

I forgot to mention that I can actually boot to windows and play music and whatever. It's just the display, due to one setting.

It's the same issue I just discussed, older NVIDIA cards won't display if legacy option ROMs are disabled. Check my posts from 1 page back in this thread. You have to pull the battery to reset the BIOS.

    Updated, no problems here.

Thank you for replying so soon! I indeed read your previous post about removing the cmos battery to reset the bios. However I am unable to pry it loose, and scared to apply a lot of force having damaged similar connectors in the past.

Is there any other way to reset the bios? I would think pressing a certain key sequence could work right? Otherwise do you maybe have any tips on how to safely remove the battery?

Anyways, I greatly appreciate your help! Apologies for my English. It's not my first language, and I am also typing this on my phone.
