I have the Lite on LCM-256M3S SSD that came with the machine. I see there is a new firmware update. Directions state it should not wipe the drive. Anyone try this. If so, does the data remain. I will do a true image backup but wondering if I will actually need it if I do decide to update.

    Thanks

    Mike

I updated the firmware and drive booted up fine after. I have been having an issue where acrobat XI would stop responding with large pdf files. Tested it on one or two files and so far so good. I need to test more though. I also emptied my temp files and that could have helped that issue.

One item I noticed after the SSD firmware update is now I get the Dell Splash Screen on my external monitors. Previously, with Win 8, nothing was displayed on my external monitor until windows booted and I got to the Win 8 screen asking for my PW. Now, when I turn on the system, I see the Dell logo on one of the external monitors.

The 325+ series is the first to officially support Windows 8.1. Still waiting for a release on the Quadro side... but they still have some time.

Are you using the Geforce drivers with a Quadro? I know it works with the new Quadros (even though they're not on the products supported list), but I haven't tried it, just wondering if there are any performance differences or other differences worth mentioning.

Why would you do this? Gaming? Besides, isn't there a performance driver for the Quadros?

I'm using the Geforce drivers for gaming exclusively since my M6400 (it used to require fiddling with the ini files to add the FX3700M to the list of supported devices, but at a certain point Nvidia whitelisted the Quadros by default - makes sense since it's the same GPU)..

Can't comment on the differences worth mentioning as I have a dual-boot Windows 7 installation and the Quadro drivers (if needed) are only installed on the work-related partition, while the Geforce drivers and games are on the other. Presumably, the Geforce drivers contain various game-specific tuning profiles which are probably not present in the Quadro line.

Tried it yesterday. Nice performance/quality - but PremierColor stopped working. After returning to 320.86 everything was fine again.

    Cheers,
    Alex

Fingerprint reader SUCCESS in Windows 8.1

I wasn't expecting it to work but...
I have Windows 8.1 (final) installed in VMware Workstation for testing. I connected the fingerprint reader to the VM (it's a USB device) and installed the updated drivers for the fingerprint reader from the M6800 driver page. Works fine in Windows 8.1 using the new native fingerprint controls.

(I previously tried with the M6700 drivers and it did not work.)
