No the Covet will not get the touch screen panel when it comes out. Covet will only offer the IPS RGB panel with Gorilla Glass 2.

    Tks

Anyone knows the model number of the new E-port Replicator Plus? I know the older version is PR02x, not sure about the new one with USB 3.0.

While I see Win8 listed several places in the release notes, I thought it strange that is not listed on the Download page itself. Any early adopters out there yet with feedback on this release? Thanks!

edit: Just gave it a shot, but the install on Win8 failed..."This NVIDIA graphics driver not compatible with this version of Windows....could not find compatible graphics hardware." Guess I'll wait for a newer build or maybe one directly from Dell.

You can download the "desktop" version and it works on Windows 8. Even though it's the "desktop" version, the K5000M is listed as supported on the site. I've been running it for a bit over a week, no problems.

For "iieeann", the Dell P/N for the model number is still PR02X, but the Dell P/N is 12TFY A00 (Called E-Port Plus II)

    Hey DHewes

I was wondering if I can have your order number please? Because I just got a call from dell and they told me that the reason for my delay is because they need a software that is missing, that's what the engineer said, and until then they cannot ship my covet. And I told her that I know someone who got his covet already and you had ordered it after I had already placed my order. Can a software really cause such a delay? At least she gave me an extra year worth of warranty for free but I still need my laptop for work! May I have the number please?

    Thank you

Does a 12.5mm hard drive fit?

It would be safe to assume not. But I had a chance to check anyway.

The extra 1TB drive I bought to use as a data drive developed bad sectors after a couple weeks of use so I had Western Digital send me an advance replacement under RMA. They sent me the 12.5mm drive instead of the 9.5mm version. Aside from being somewhat miffed that they don't know how to send the right model, I opened up the M6700 to see if there is any chance that the 12.5mm drive would work.

Main "pop-out" drive bay — no chance at all. It's too tall to fit in the slot even without the caddy.

Secondary drive bay — it's sooo close. It seems like the drive might barely fit but you have to insert it at a bit of an angle and there's no way to get it in. If Dell put a smidge more room around this drive bay, a 12.5mm drive would probably work. The connecting bracket would not need to be redesigned at all, I don't think.

Anyway, Western Digital says they don't have the 9.5mm drive in stock so I have to call them back "sometime next week" to check on it. Fantastic.
