Yeah, thanks, but already did that yesterday following your link to the thread so here's hoping that svl7 will find some time to unlock it as the stock clocks don't cut it. I think you can actually force the state and clock that you want via the nvidia inspector, but I'd rather have all the performance states so it can downclock when it's not needed.

On the sides ? (like my Lenovo X220)
I very rarely put my laptop on his side... So except very special situation, i think it is far and far more difficult to block the inputs if they are on each side.
Same problem with my Dell latitude E6320.
I hope Dell will correct this small problem for their next design, even if i can live with this :)

    Hey all,

I don't mean to derail the thread, and I apologize if this question has already been asked, but...

What is the absolute best ram for a 6700? Looking for 32gig for heavy editing applications. Looking for a current answer.

    Thanks,
    bob

EDIT: I know that the 1866 corsair vengeance is good. Is that still currently the best? Also, is 250 for 32gig a good price?

Yes, but IMHO the design of the fans is to pull from a certain direction and push it to the other. so, if you're pushing the air out of the back, you can't pull it from the side with the type of fans currently used, you'd have to use different ones (and it would probably be less efficient?).

Also, check how many ports you have on the sides where these holes would be located (you'd need one per side for both fans) - there's not enough space to fit them all in the back and besides, it's much less convenient to use backside ports.

Finally, it would be more noisy to have the intake ports on the side.

So, why go with the inconvenient port placing and less efficient and more noisy cooling just to be able to do intensive tasks while having the laptop on your lap or on the bed? I think it would be easier to get some flat surface laptop "holder" :)

I just did some searching and it looks to me like Corsair is still the only company that sells 1866 8GB modules. They've also been confirmed working and stable by a few other members here.

    $250 is a good price. (I'm seeing $290 for 32GB on Newegg.)

I didnt see your thread there, maby mods did not approve you as yet, also to get that bios i had to write 5 posts on the forum, so i could download attachments.
If i set P0 to +400MHz, the way it works for me is when im plugged in K3000M runs at stock ~600MHz clocks and when i use some 3d apps it still runs at 600MHz but if performance is not enough for the app or game, it jumps into ~1050MHz and gives me 60% performance boost over the stock clocks.

I have tried to run it +500MHz, but i found it unstable, at least in 3dmark11, i had couple crashes, nvidia driver had to restart then. But +450MHz is stable, but just in case and not to harm the card i play it safe with +400MHz.

    UPDATE:

Metro Last Light @ High settings 1920x1080 benchmark results:

THIS TIME USED: +450MHz core +400MHz memory. Gpu max temp 63c!

I've been looking at getting an m6700 for a while. Dell just removed the two cheapest base configurations from the website, which will cost me $500 more if I go ahead with the order.

Do you guys think this is a sign that the m6800 is close to release? Also note that the IPS option is also gone.

Well, there is nothing wrong ordering one from ebay:

    Want cheap? Here

    Want nice one? Here

You can find some decent deals on ebay, and laptops will still be covered as you would buy from Dell. I think prices will raise soon on ebay, because dell just raised prices for m6700 as far as i am aware of.

    Good luck

Exciting news about OCing the K3000!!! How do you do that, does the BIOS allow for that?? Wonder if the AMD 6000m is overclock-able?
