Dell Precision M6700 Owners Thread

Good luck with it.
I don't think it is a hardware problem because it is simply not pulling the screen back up. This includes sometimes from a cold boot.
Hardware problems are usually of a more dramatic nature, like not getting any display anytime.
A few others were having this problem a few weeks ago too.

 

Here is what I picked up from the Outlet Store

I don't necessarily understand some of the codes and things but here it is. This M6700 was NOT on the outlet website. I asked the rep if he could find me an i7 with certain specs and he was able to find it.

I never could get a straight answer on this so perhaps you can clear one thing up for me:

What does XN0P5 1 Base,Notebook,Silver,M6700,FCG2 mean when it comes to the Silver?

That likely means you have the "regular" M6700 that comes in "silver" (as opposed to the covet version which comes in red). Though I think it's more dark grey than silver, really...

 

I thought Dell called that color antique bronze... Definitely not silver.

 

Thanks. Do you have some links (or oher information) about others people having this problem ? Because "Dell ProSupport" said me it was an unknow problem, they never saw that before.

Hello, I received my m6700 today

Planning to purchase a msata and a normal ssd. Does the m6700 support SATA 6 gbps for msata? How is the compatibility for Intel 520 series SSD?

 

mSATA is SATA-2 (3 Gbit/s) only. The only SATA-3 ports are the two primary 2.5" bays.
(Still think you'll get excellent performance from whatever you put in the mSATA slot, especially compared to a regular HDD.)

 

Actual color name is Federal. Might be Federal Grey.

Aaron is right about mSATA still being plenty fast, if you want benchmarks for a C400 mSATA let me know. Also, I'm running an Intel 520 in the main 2.5" bay and it has been working flawlessly.
