Exactly. The site's not very forthcoming is it? Anyway, I intuitively ordered win8 since I'll be updating to W8.

I got my 6700 with Win 7 and then bought the upgrade to 8 for the $15. Does anyone know if I can image my drive with 7, and then upgrade to 8 and if I do not like 8, just go back to 7 (restore the image)? Or can I just install on a spare drive to try it out and go back to 7 if I do not like 8? Are there any activation issues with this?

    thanks,

    Mike

Should be fine. Legally, they don't want to you keep your 7 and 8 installs around, as the Windows 8 license is supposed to replace your Windows 7 license. You are allowed to go back, though, you just have to pick one. As far as activation goes, they don't pay attention quite that closely to which license you used to upgrade, so no trouble. Upgrading to Windows 8 won't invalidate your Windows 7 key.

I finally got around to upgrading my memory using the above linked video as a guide.

Note there is a metal keeper bar under the keyboard/partially over the memory cards that has to be removed -- one screw. This was not on the M6600 unit in the video.

    Booted up fine.

Is there a test I should run now???

Anyone else with a nvidia K5000m video card have bios version 80.04.5A.00.05?

GPU-Z has a date of June 2012. I assume that is the date of the bios.

    thanks,

    mike

The date you see is actually just when the graphics card you have was released. I don't think GPU-Z gets this from your card, but from its own internal database of cards and release dates. (The note you get when you hover over it implies this.)

My launch model M6700 has firmware 80.04.33.00.35 and GPU-Z also reports June 2012.

I got a price quite for
    2265.

Is this the lowest I can expect for this build?
I read through most of the pages and price or rarely discussed.
The sales rep will probably call me in the morning.
