Does the tint change with the angle of the screen?

No, not at all, I have a few high-end displays here (Eizo SX2461, CG241W which both may get a tint when viewed from angle because of PVA and a NEC Spectraview Reference 271 which is actually unbeatable). I know that I cannot get this quality from a laptop IPS-display, but as I said there is a greenish tint in the left lower bottom, and a big magenta tint on the rest of the screen which is a bit heavier in the right lower bottom. I think it is the same problem people had on the 4600, sadly. Tomorrow a tech will come and have a look at it-

and is there any hint why I cannot change the values for RGB in the premier color software? Do I have to (sw)-"calibrate" through the windows internal color sliders then?

the world is full of people like you who, for every problem that was ever solved, were quick to point out that the problem is not solvable ...

and we should all be grateful that such people exist, because without them who would make excuses for everything that is wrong with the world ?

we're not talking about finding cure for AIDS here ...

any time i call USPS to find out where my package is their answer is always the same "we don't know" and when i ask them "who does know?" they always reply "nobody knows" ...

and that's why i never ship anything with USPS ...

when some stoner Fedexed me a package from another side of the planet and wrote a wrong address i just called Fedex and they found the package for me and i got the expensive glass errr ... let's call it "vase" ;) without a scratch.

when there is a will there is a way ...

there are people ( and companies ) who solve problems, and there are ones who make excuses.

Whoa, great comparison, a manufacturer VS a transporter.

Well, that's not the good place to talk about that I think...

For sure, Dell can make progress, but progress on tracking systems cost money, and Dell will not spent money for that (I guess...).

nice to hear that display technology continues to advance. i'm on a 27" iMac right now which is IPS LED but obviously not RGBLED ... it's relatively good ( for non professional use ) and colors look mostly right ( compared to my Samsung monitor for example which color shifts from angles even though it's not a TN ).

closer to the point: is this RGBLED technology available on an affordable ( sub $1,000 or so ) full size ( 24" plus ) monitor ?

i want to replace the iMac with my windows box i don't have a display that can do justice to flesh tones. i don't want to look at pale, green or red faces. i am already spoiled by iPad 3 on which skin tones come alive. i don't need laser precision of a display with programmable lookup tables but i want the kind of color that makes you want to lick the screen :)

Wikipedia lists this as inherent problem with RGBLED displays. Because the backlight consists of color LEDs different parts of the screen will have slightly different color. Furthermore it says it gets worse as the panel gets older and some LEDs age faster than others.

EDIT: wrong link ! ( right link a few posts below )

This canot be sold as display for professionals then, can it? Not for people that need color accuracy... But that's for what they advert it.

P.S.: Maybe I am blind but I cannot read what you said in your link

...and I also won't accept to pay a xxx premium for a display which I simply cannot work with...

Is the tint so noticeable? I think the problem is with the anti-glare layer and no the panel itself but dunno... I used to own a couple of Elitebooks with similar IPS RGBLED panels and they all had minor tint (only noticeable on white background) but it wasn't too bad. There's always a compromise, you can't have 50x more colors with perfect viewing angles without sacrificing something...

Of course you can (eg Nec spectraview) but propably not on a laptop display for a few 100 euro.
Sadly the tint is that noticeable that you don't have neutral greys at all. The corner tint is something i would live with but the overall tint is not acceptable for me. I will see how a replacement display will look like tomorrow. If it is the same or maybe gets better...

i am very sorry. i gave you wrong link. here is the right one:

Backlight - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    from the linked page:

"There are several challenges with LED backlights. Good uniformity is harder to achieve, especially as the LEDs age, with each LED possibly aging at a different rate. Also, the use of three separate light sources for red, green, and blue means that the white point of the display can move as the LEDs age at different rates. Aging also occurs with White LEDs, with changes of several 100K being recorded. White LEDs also suffer from blue shifts at higher temperatures varying from 3141K to 3222K for 10°C to 80°C respectively.[4]"

Tests reported on this forum for the mSATA for the 6700 indicated it was plenty fast enough, and likely not a noticeable difference in real world usage unless moving extremely large files.

Unless there is a difference in the 4700 hardware then this seems like an over reaction.

Separate suggestion, maybe all of the posts announcing people's order placements, shipping, and delivery dates could be limited somewhat. Please? That tends to get tedious for people looking for technical info.
