To be honest, I almost got myself a m6600 with 2860qm at a discount, but then I see m6600 is already 1 year, and I think I'll wait for another 6 months before I decide whether I should get the next precision. My m6400 is still going strong as we speak, which proven to be a great machine for my use (audio/music production):)

At least this summer for IB M6700 as precisions are last behind consumer (AW, XPS, And even some smb latitude and vostro eTC) for updates.

I agree, for my work I need the laptop to support 1920x1200 or way more...the HD isn't enough at all, this was a really bad regression from the M6400 and M6500. Even my ipad2 has more screen real estate than my expensive M6600 :((

I hope someone from DELL is reading those....

My thoughts on this? They just updated their Alienware range & I don't see any changes with the screens. I don't think it gonna happen with m6700. Maybe m6800....

No it doesn't. Not unless you meant iPad 3.

The timing of and decisions for a potential M6700 strongly depends on the Nvidia timing and release of a Kepler mobile workstation card (or whatever Nvidia decides to call their next mobile ISV certified high-end and ultra high-end 28-nanometer GPU). Although the causal relationship here is not strictly linear, the screens for the next generation of precision mobile workstations will arguably depend on what the corresponding GPU/video card supports/provides.

Also, am I the only one who recalls Dell Precision engineers (ambiguously) talking about totally redesigning the next (post-M6600 Precision lines into two distinct groups for more specific market targets?

The new ipad does not have more screen real estate than a 1080p panel.

It has millions more pixels, but it is scaled so that the image is of the same as the previous ipad.

Result is a sharp, very impressive screen (I have one); however, my M6600 IPS RGBLED is THE best LCD screen I have ever used and that is saying a lot as I have used a ton of pro-grade panels. Dell made a genius decision to connect the M6600 IPS panel via displayport and not LVDS, resulting in stunning true 10 bit goodness:)

It is even better than my U2410 desktop panel.
