Didn't seeing any slow scrolling but did see some serious minimize/maximize lag and tearing , even in safari at Apple recommended resolution.

Yeah, I experienced this too - even when on discrete graphics only. Coming from a late 2008 Macbook Pro still running Snow Leopard, I thought the display itself was gorgeous (text especially as everyone else has pointed out), but the user experience overall a little lacking in polish. They're definitely pushing the limits of both hardware and software.

I'll give it a pass this time. Maybe with the next iteration the hardware and software interface will be fully baked.

Less than a week away from the hinted target date.......

Precision M4700 and M6700 have appeared in the list of Dell products on the support page (if you go to downloads and then "Choose from a list of all Dell products").

    No downloads available yet, though.

    [Update]
They're also available in the list you get when searching for a product manual, but similarly, no downloads yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if we hear some news about it come Monday. I also wouldn't be surprised if we heard nothing, heh.

Typically I have found that the best way to find stuff on Dell's site that is just coming out is to use the search feature. For the last month and a half+ there has been a result of some manual or something when you search. I remember when the Arrandale's came out, I found them first by searching for 'i5'.

I think some news on Monday or Tuesday seems likely as well (announcement with a launch date, rather than actual launch).

Sure enough, search reveals some downloadable drivers for the touchpad and chipset (nothing particularly interesting/surprising).

Yup, looks like it's going to be Mon/Tue next week. Hoping for miracles (FirePro version of the 7970m, AMD GPU switching, extra hdd bay, covet edition with matte screen, etc) but ready for the worst, lol

You are ready for Chi Mei Hd screens ? Sorry, not hd, but something with a 21:9 screen. Now that would be a nightmare :)

I don't care. If there are no improvements from my wish list, any negative factor will simply make me grab the current gen instead and simply upgrade the GPU down the road.
