In case you didn't already get this sorted out, there are applications and drivers in two places on the drivers and download site (Dell Data Protection and Security). There is a reference to this problem in the Security section.

    Hi to everybody,
    please help.
I bought a 128 GB Crucial M4 SSD and installed it in place of the internal CD-ROM.
The latter is now connected via e-SATA port and external cable. Caddy and e-sata cable taken from NewModeUS.
Before I install the caddy I made sure that my M4600 in the BIOS had AHCI or RAID enabled. I already found the RAID option turned on, even if I only had the 500 GB HD.
Proceed and all is well. Explorer sees the SSD and so did the BIOS.
But at the start it says that I need to activate RAID and, booted Windows, in the My computer resources the new SSD does not appear.
    What to do?
    1) switch from RAID to AHCI in BIOS?
    2) configure RAID? and how? I would lose data on your computer?
    3) Once installed properly I will proceed with the transfer of 7 64-bit Windows system to SSD. Some advice?

Thanks in advance for your support.

OK Guys - thanks to this thread, I enabled AHCI in the bios, enabled it in the Windows 7 Registry, and then used the FREE Macrium Reflect Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download to clone my factory hard drive to an SSD with absolutely no issues at all.

I kept the Restore and Dell Partitions just in case which admittedly do waste a bit of space but the PC works perfectly, flawlessly and a hell of a lot faster than out of the box. No issues. Now just run a bunch of SSD tweaks and it appears all good!
