Those are awsome temps. With the HDD instead of the Larger battery i cant really see any compromises being made with this laptop. Dell did really well. The battery vs HDD option is smart. A lot of smaller companies would have just gone with the Larger battery or hdd, not having both as options. I dont need 9 hours battery life since i have an ipad for low intensity tasks. All i need this thing to do is run Rhino in front of consturction crew for an hour or so. But Having that Secondary storage is AMAZING atleast until 1TB M.2/Msatas get into the affordable range then dell and just make the 9 cell as a standard option and we will have a bloody unstoppable laptop...

Im assuming there is only 1 Msata slot in the 9 cell config though?

If you have a 90W on hand, have you tried it with the 90W? If not, can you?

I would love to know how badly it throttles on the 90W and if it will charge? I use my present Latitude on a 90W DC power a lot, and I don't think there is a 130W version...

Oh, and thanks for the review!

Thanks so much for the preview! This sounds like a great machine! I've got an XPS 15 on the way, which I hope will be more-or-less the same. Now I'm excited.

I run mainly Adobe CS applications. I thought Lightroom got a high-dpi upgrade in version 5. You're saying the menus are still tiny at native res? How responsive is the software? Smooth? How does it handle Premiere and After Effects? Do you find the touchscreen useful at all in graphics applications, for painting w. brushes, etc.? Any chance of some QHD+ Lightroom & Photoshop screenshots? Or a screencast? Have you hardware calibrated the display? How is delta-e? Overall, how would you rate this machine as a mobile graphics/photo/video workstation?

    1. Will it have PCI-E SSD options like the M4800 and the new MBP?

    2. How is the IGZO screen for eyestrain vs the regular high-res screens?

    Thanks!

I'm aware of the smaller battery. I would like to hear your estimate about the 4-6 hours, is that stretchable to 6 plus hours when using a dim backlight and doing mostly non-CPU demanding tasks, or is that figure already based on such a usage?

Is this true, that m3800 has no mechanical dock port, only wireless?
Is this possible to drive HDMI+DisplayPort+internal screen(QHD) simultaneously? I mean without D5000...
Does DP support 4K? And HDMI?

Excellent thread bokeh. I have one question I hope that you and or someone else can answer.

I'm looking for a laptop for some development work. That is, i will use it for programming and also run 2-3 virtuell machines simultaneously on it.
I need a high res 15 inch display and a good quality keyboard for typing.

Im stuck between this (m3800), the m4800 and the new 15inch rmbp. I can get the m4800 with 16GB ram, quadcore i7, 256GB ssd and qhd+ display for about the same price as the new rmbp with 16GB ram, quadcore i7, 512GB pcie ssd and 2880x1800 ips display.

Which one would you recommend between the m3800 with same config as yours and the two mentioned above? Or should I wait for the upcoming lenovo w540 ?

The m4800 is one step ahead of the other two as far as i can see it, and that is that it has 4 dimm slots. 32GB ram is very nice but 16GB should be enough for me for most of the time.

Sorry for ruining your thread but, I want to know if the m3800 can be seen as a 'real workstation'.

Also, how do you use the native 3200x1800 resolution? Is it set to 3200x1800 as 100% (fonts and icon will be very hard to see) or are you using it with 150% or 200% zoom in?

    Regards.
