No. IGZO pertains to the type of transistors used in the display; it is completely independent of how the panel displays content. IGZO has created confusion on this front ever since it was introduced. You can have a display that is both IGZO and IPS, for example.

Hi. I don't know how many of you have the new model but I'd like to know about battery life. If you have the old model I'd also like to know what kind of battery life you get as it will probably end up being similar. Please specify whether your battery is 60 wh or 91 wh. Thank you!

I suspect the AUO panel is MVA or AMVA which use a different technology to achieve the same high viewing angles as IPS (which is an LG-Philips tecnology). Samsung's PLS technology is another good alternative to IPS.

My E7440 has an AUO B140HAN panel and the quality is very good.

Screen is real very good, but it have a little defect (may be specific). About it I talked at post #3436. Have your B140HAN the same "effect"?

I don't recall noticing any unevenness in the backlight on my E7440 when on the initial BIOS screen and it definitely looks OK in normal usage.

I would agree that your display appears to be outside the acceptable range although sometimes the camera exaggerates the problem.

However, the QHD display in the XPS15/M3800 is a PPS screen, which is why I think the viewing angles are not quite as good. The new 4K display may be the same as the NX500's IGZO display, in which case I think that would be IPS and would have better viewing angles (though lower brightness) compared to the QHD.

I got my the new M3800 today and I must say that I am still very disappointed in the touchpad, and it may be a deal killer for me yet again. I figured that Dell would have put the new precision touchpads on the new M3800s as well, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Why? I have no idea. The Synaptics drivers for this touchpad are just too wonky and not very smooth at all. Granted I have been using a Macbook Pro so I understand that the M3800 touchpad won't be on par with Macbook one, but it is still just too inaccurate, not smooth, and not real intuitive to use right now.

It's funny because when I UNINSTALL the Synaptics drivers the touchpad gets tons better, and I could actually see me sticking with the M3800 in this state. The problem is that I now lose 2 finger scrolling by not having the Synaptics drivers installed, and that sucks big time.

I really wish there was a way to get 2 finger scrolling without having to deal with the Synaptics drivers, but I know that's impossible. Guess I gotta figure out if I can deal with not having 2 finger scrolling or not.

Someone, a while back, indicated that the latest M3800 touchpad drivers were much better, so you may want to check that you have those.

There were similar problems with the previous M3800/XPS 15. The solution, that worked for me and others, was to install the generic synaptics drivers from their website. With those drivers, the trackpad works fine for me. However, installing those drivers turned out to be more complicated that you would imagine because they were not digitally signed, but there are documented ways around it (such as installing an older digitally signed driver).
