I tried downloading CPU-Z to look at the RAM specs as several people suggested, and this is what I see:

But someone else linked to a page that showed this:

    Aren't those specs different?

The SPD tab will show you RAM info. Match those specs if you want to add an extra stick of ram. Manufacturer doesn't need to be exactly the same though.

The second image you linked is a suggestion from that particular vendor for compatible RAM. It is two sticks though.

    More touchscreen issues.

So I've tried searching but had no luck finding an answer to my touchscreen issue. The problem is after using the computer for say 30 minutes or so, sometimes the touchscreen stops responding. Sleeping ro hibernating the computer restores the screen. This is not the earlier problem with the blue circle as the rest of the system seems totally unaffected. I've already updated the screen bios so now I'm out of ideas.

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

I'm from Brazil but I'm going to Ireland in June to study Architecture. Thinking to get the m3800, I saw a user having problems with Revit, anyone using at this time? I'm prety sure that the m3800 is a good choice specialy for Architecture students, however I read many problems and crashes that remain unsolved.

hey this is the best forum that I found in the internet about the m3800! Great users
    Thanks

I have just spotted a dark spot under the display glass / panel, it looks like dust. After working with my unit daily for about 2 months now, I'm pretty sure it's not something old. There is at least one other report about this problem, too. I will get in contact with Dell support on tuesday and let them know about my problem. But I won't ask for a replacement, because that dark spot wouldn't justify a repair in my eyes, because it's only visible on a white background, it's about 2px big and it's located on the left side (about 1cm from the left) and not visible when viewing from some angles.

Can it really be dust? Unfortunately, I don't have a good camera for macro photos :(.

You probably need to do a few things:

    1. Before cloning, disable Intel Smart Response (under Intel Rapid Storage > Acceleration) before cloning, since it won't be available when you boot from the mSATA SSD.

    2. Make sure your OS partition is the final partition on the disk, which means deleting the image restore partition and (if you have it) the Intel Rapid Start partition.

    3. Shrink your OS partition so that the total size of that plus the partitions to the "left" of it is no more than 240 GB.

    4. After completing the clone, switch your SATA operation mode in the BIOS to AHCI rather than Intel Smart Response. Or if you don't have the necessary adapters to use the mSATA SSD as a USB device, you may have to do this before cloning (and after #1).

If you don't do #2 and 3, many disk cloning solutions will refuse to restore your current image to your SSD since the SSD is smaller than the source drive and/or because they can't start the partitions on the target drive at the same offsets that they use on the source drive. You could also try a different cloning tool. Macrium Reflect Free might be able to do the clone on the fly (i.e. connect your target drive via USB to clone) without having to delete any partitions and simply allow you to resize the OS partition for the SSD, though I believe some people who have done this have found that their image restore partition no longer works afterward.

Or you could just get your hands on a Windows installation ISO and follow the instructions in the XPS 15 Wiki for creating UEFI-compatible boot media and booting from USB to perform a completely clean installation. Then just reinstall the drivers, all of which you'll find at support.dell.com.

When I fold my new Precision m3800, there in an irregular space between the display and the keyboard. A little pressure on the upper side makes the cover sinking, as in the video. Is this uneven gap and cover sinking representing in all m3800, maybe any owners could answer?

    Hi Andyfromthesun,

this is perfectly normal, my M3800 acts exactly the same. This is by design and helps distributing the pressure to the corners, while transporting your notebook. This can also be found on various other Ultrabooks, for example Lenovo ThinkPad T440s - here's a link to a german forum, maybe Google translate can lend you a hand to read the discussion: T440s Displaydeckel ist vorne leicht gewölbt

    And here's a photo: http://www.notebookcheck.com/fileadmin/_processed_/csm_front_7adb3c9f8f.jpg

    Greetings,
    Tolga
