Ahh, wait: I have seen those on and off with certain external devices (USB sticks, sometimes external HDs, too). Check if these errors pop up whenever you plug in a certain USB stick. In my case (different machine) this only happened with certain USB sticks, not all of them, and it's harmless. I had researched this a long time ago, and it's not unusual, and means nothing. Unless it's from an internal device, of course...

Turned out Dell looked at it and we figured it was a USB drive at night.... Duh.

Is there a new driver for the SSD. Dell said mine is up to date.

SSDs don't have drivers. The AHCI controller does (Intel Rapid Storage), but SSDs only have firmware, and I believe the only update available is for the 256GB Lite-On SSD.

In that regard, they are no different than HDDs, you just don't really hear about HDD firmware is all. The drivers are for the SATA controller which is what "talks" with the HDD or SSD.

    Hi All.

Can anyone please confirm that the K1100M / Drivers used by Dell give a 10-bit per channel output for higher end monitors? The Nvidia blurb about Quadro cards is generic and the part about 10-bit per channel output is open to mis-interpretation. I tried NVidia support directly but their response was try Dell since they don't support 'M' cards directly. I'd like to get a 10-bit / channel monitor if I can but there's no point if the K1100 isn't outputing at 10-bit / channel

I figured I would have a better chance of getting a response here among some real users

    Thanks!

Anyone use a matte screen cover to reduce glare like this one below? Anyway, even if it does work, I can't seem to find it available in the US.

Matt and anti-reflective, hard-coated, dirt-repellent, very simple assembly, residue-free removal

The 3M Vikuiti™ screen protector ARMR220 is designed to be applied on electronic screens and offers reliable protection from scratches and soiling.

The screen protector for Dell Precision M3800 is described as "dual coated", since on the one hand, the film surfaces is matt whereby mirror images are scattered and on the other hand the screen protector is further equipped with anti-reflection coating which reduces the intensity of mirror images. Brightness, contrast and legibility of screens without anti-reflection coating are measurably enhanced through the matt surfaces and the anti-reflection coating.

The hard coating of the Vikuiti™ screen protector ARMR220 Dell Precision M3800 furthermore offers optimal mechanical protection from scratches. An additional non-adhesive layer ensures that the protective film is also dirt-repellent enabling the removal of ball-point pens and marker pens ink through dry wiping.

An optimised adhesive layer ensures an easy-to-apply, bubble free application of the Vikuiti™ screen protector ARMR220. The adhesive layer is only slightly adhesive and readily forms a film over even surfaces. The protective film can easily be removed or repositioned at any time.

The film is ideal for touch screens and is pleasant to write on.

Our Vikuiti™ screen protectors are cut by laser in Germany on state-of-the-art machinery. Exact tailoring to forms and excellent border adhesion are guaranteed.

    One package (set) contains:
1 Vikuiti™ screen protector ARMR220 for Dell Precision M3800. For devices with multiple displays, the package contains one film for each display.

I think the OP of this thread might be your guy. You could PM him if Bokeh doesn't look in by himself.

That sounds interesting. The glossy display is one of the things I would not be looking forward to with the M3800. I realize that the colors will look better and more vibrant on a glossy display, but I would probably prefer a matte screen for glare reduction. If anyone orders one of these I'd be interested to hear how they like it.

How are things in Windows 7 M3800 land? Everything still going smoothly for you? Anything major pop up?

BIOS A03 was just released for the M3800 and XPS 15, and among the listed changes are improved system stability (for people experiencing spontaneous BSoDs/lockups?) and a fix for the manual battery charge settings, i.e. they're actually effective now, confirmed by multiple XPS 15 owners. Now the only thing I wish they had was the "Charge to 100% once" button in Quickset that they have on some other models, including my sister's Inspiron 7437. I plan to have my system stop charging at 80% (just like the Tesla Model S by default, incidentally) and not start charging again until 50% (would've preferred 40, but you can't go lower than 50, its seems) but it would be handy to not have to go into the BIOS if I ever wanted to top my system all the way on certain occasions. Oh well, the Inspiron 7437 that has this feature actually doesn't have the Adaptive charging strategy; it's all manual. So I guess you can't have everything in one place. At least they've finally fixed a feature that until now has been broken.

I'm also curious whether the Adaptive mode has been fixed. If anyone who almost always has their system running on AC power wants to leave it in Adaptive mode and report back in a few days/weeks whether they see their battery being allowed to discharge while plugged in, that would be cool to know.
