It doesn't hurt at all, but you can feel some weird thing.
Try to rub your finger softly on this area:

or you can do the same on the top (where the DELL logo located)

@adlerhn: Yes, the Whr counts. Okay, you got a bigger battery, so you got more battery life.

@jphughan: IGZO might be more battery-friendly at the same resolution, but we're talking about almost 4K here. So it's definitely something which could make the 3W difference; what else could it be?

A similar phenomenon occurs with ipads, macbooks and other electronics with metal cases. Seems like it might be this, or related: Electrovibration - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    It's harmless.

My guess would be you don't have a grounded/schuko plug on your adaptor, right?
Try switching it out and the problem should go away..

There's quite a number of apple threads regarding it and it does seem related to grounding: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2663087?tstart=0

Alright, so I broke down and ordered an M3800. FHD screen, 16GB memory, 256GB SSD, 91WHr battery, and Windows 7. Funny, they give me the option of ordering Windows 7, or Windows 7 with Upgrade rights for 8.1, at the same price. I guess that means that 8.1 is worthless, which I would agree with. Of course, I ordered Windows 7 with no upgrade rights... :D

I'll let you know how this goes. If the screen is not exceptional, I'll just send the thing back.

As an aside, if I like the machine, I may upgrade the SSD to this one. Anyone advise for or against?

Nice to see you finally made a decision. I don't understand at all why you would have gotten Windows 7 without the upgrade rights with no cost difference though. Incidentally, the reason for having no difference in cost is because you're essentially buying an 8.1 license no matter what (since Microsoft doesn't sell Win7 licenses anymore); the difference is that in one case Dell exercises your downgrade rights for you and still gives you the edition you actually paid for, and in the other you get your downgrade rights exercised without also getting what you actually paid for.

Pirx, it sounds like you've never even used Win8.1 (and no, Win8 doesn't count), which further makes me question why you're constantly dumping on it and advising others to avoid it with no apparent basis for that opinion. I hated Win8 as much as anybody when I tried to use it (twice), but 8.1 actually converted me after I actually bothered to try it out. It's too bad you didn't take this no-cost opportunity to give yourself the option to up your mind to new information at some point in the future. I can't think of a more concrete example of stubbornness.

As for the SSD, it's a great choice if your storage requirements are sufficient to justify the high cost. And if your storage needs are that high, then there isn't another alternative on the market right now anyway.
