Pictures of the screen, dead pixels etc. You have an unusual number of problems in 2 different machines. You could just be really unlucky somehow, or something else...

    (emphasis added) lol :)

It's kind of hard to take pictures of dead pixels, since they are so small, but here are some pictures I took (and posted a few pages ago) of the largest spot:

    Macro pics:

The pics were taken at minimum brightness, which means it stands out even more when the brightness is turned up.

It's dust under the glass, because the shape is irregular.
On macro pics is even possible to see the subpixel grid made by Red, Green, Blue subpixels.

I'm pretty sure the adaptive charging says it's at 100% whether or not the battery is actually at 100%.

In Linux, you can check more detailed ACPI battery information under /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state ; I'm not sure whether this tool ( PassMark BatteryMon - UPS & laptop computer battery monitoring software ) would be a useful equivalent, but passmark is relatively well-regarded and it was the first thing that came up when searching. There might also be more information available using WMIC (which is a built in part of Windows -- see here: Source code for battstat.bat for a scripting exampe.)

    It's not working at all!
Battery is always charged until 100% is reached, no matter what you select on Battery Charge Configuration.

If it's dust, it's an awfully large piece. It also doesn't move when I tap the screen, which it seems like would dislodge a piece of dust.

Dust under the glass or dead pixel, there is no difference for final user, even because the glass is glued to display so Dell or we cannot separate display from glass to remove the dust.
It's a shame that many display are ruined in the moment in which glass and display are joined together, Dell should use the same precautions that are used in environments where the chips are produced to avoid dust inside the screen.

So I've had this system for about a month and a half. I have a few issues that I'm hoping to get help with.

I've got Win8.1 on the system
    1. When waking from sleep sometimes I get the waiting circle on the screen and can't select anything. If I plug in a second screen then it works fine and any windows on the second screen also work fine. I think someone said that rapidly doing a multi-finger swipe on the touch pad would solve this?
    2. Rather frequently the touch screen stops responding. I deal with this by closing then reopening the lid. That does fix it but I would rather not have to mess with such non-sense.

Generally I really like the system and if these two issues were solved I would love it... well that and if I could have a matte screen.
