It runs DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 1.4, which means DP will drive 4K @ up to 60 Hz, and HDMI will do it up to 30 Hz. But fyi the Intel GPU would be what matters; the NVIDIA GPU only renders content in certain applications, but even then it passes the render data to the Intel GPU for actual output to the displays since all outputs are wired to the Intel GPU.

Hmm, I thought the screw holes in 7 mm and 9.5 mm drives were the same distance above the bottom edge of the hard drive and thus would always line up with mounting bracket holes? Otherwise 7 mm drives installed into in brackets that formerly held 9.5 mm drives would have to sit suspended above the bottom of the bracket in order for their screw holes to line up, but having installed 7 mm drives in such brackets in the past, I've never seen that.

To my recollection, the drive is with the bottom of the drive "up" relative to the bottom of the system when it's upside down for maintance. To get a 9.5mm drive in, as far as I could tell you'd need a bracket which came up further (assuming it would clear the case at all.

I'll try to open up to get some pictures if I have a chance tonight or tomorrow night. Maybe someone else can figure a way to get a 9.5mm drive in.

Ahh, ok yeah if the support area of the bracket contacts the top of the drive such that the underside of the drive is exposed to you, then yes I can see that being an issue. I assumed that the support area of the bracket would contact the bottom of the drive as seems to be the norm.

Pardon my ignorance, but what does that actually mean in real terms? Will it affect working with a 4k monitor?

    Thanks

Has anyone tried this machine for use with revit? My models will go up to 160/180MB. Has anyone had any experience with similar situations?

    Thanks

This machine is definitely a little "different" in its construction, although the bottom of the drive being down is pretty common (if not fully standard) on other business machines.

Just did some quick tests on the WLAN drivers, and doing the same copy on a file server that will do 100-105MB/sec over wired ethernet gets the following depending the WLAN driver version:

    16.0.0.62 (Microsoft) - ~14MB/sec -- (base driver in Windows 8.1
16.5.3.6 (Intel) - ~15MB/sec -- not sure where this one came from (Windows update?)
16.6.0.8 (Intel) - ~3-4MB/sec -- oddly, this seems to be the most recent install, coming from the latest drivers from Intel.com today, in a package they labelled 16.7
    16.6.2.1 (Intel) - ~2-3MB/sec -- latest Dell package, I think.

Disabling the BT radio doesn't help. I'm not psyched on the 14-15MB/sec speeds, but they're acceptable. No idea why it gets so much worse with the newer drivers.

Does anyone else's keyboard squeak sometimes (certain keys that I haven't paid enough attention to narrow down) when typing fast?

It shouldn't. I only mentioned it since you said you were looking on the NVIDIA site for information about driving 4K. Unfortunately Intel's GPU specs don't explicitly confirm 4K compatibility either. The required ports are definitely there, and therefore my feeling is that it will work just fine, but you're right there's no source offering 100% confirmation of that fact (and I wouldn't trust Dell customer service reps, unfortunately). I guess there's only one way to find out for certain!
