I'm still debating between M6700 IPS or wairing for Zbook17. Single FAN could be the issue for CPU/GPU extensive operations. As for for lack of GPU choice this is Zbook17 list

    NVIDIA Quadro K610M
    NVIDIA Quadro K3100M
    NVIDIA Quadro K4100M
    NVIDIA Quadro K5100M

So I guess to covers choice pretty much like DELL (excluding ATI). Still waiting for my local reseller to give the green light on them. As for now it is not possible to configure and order them.

Zbook17 is supposed to have the IPS DreamColor panel which immediately makes it a better choice for those who require 100% aRGB

I agree, still, I can't believe DELL said goodbye to IPS. They still present Covet version in Mx800 PDF files so it might be an option.
On the other hand I checked old PDF files they have for Mx700 and it was clear that IPS is an option.
Who knows, hopefully the new config page goes online tomorrow

Single fan has been an issue for them on the last gen.

Glad to see HP finally supporting Optimus. Sad to see that there are no HDMI ports on any of their machines.

Glad to see Thunderbolt on the systems. Hopefully as the port becomes more common, prices on things that use it will come down.

No way am I going to pay HP an extra $2,150 for the K5100M upgrade. That is just nuts.

Read that the ZBook 14 will only have 1.6 and 2.1Ghz low voltage processors. The AMD FirePro M4100 will help out with graphics, but I just don't see how you can call a system a workstation when it is powered by a dual-core low-voltage processor. The ZBook 14 screen also tops out at 1920x1080 if you want good color or 1600x900 if you want a touch screen. 1366x768 is still the standard.

On the ZBook 15 and 17, it looks like you can't order an mSata drive as a drive. You only have a 32GB mSata flash cache option if you order a HDD. SSD choices top out at 180GB. They are both also limited to 1600Mhz ram. Only 2x2 wireless options. No XM processor in the 15.

The new look also puzzles me. Not sure of what they were going for.

Is the 3200x1800 screen anti-glare matte like the M4800, glossy bright or will they offer both options for the M3800?
Just curious if this has been confirmed yet...

Notice there is no i7 4702 processor option for the M4800... not a good sign for the upcoming M3800

Still no idea why it's taking so long - "end of year" but no news?

Since it's touch-enabled, it's likely to be glossy. A non-touch without edge-to-edge glass and matte finish could definitely be an option, but they haven't announced anything.

looks like either a dual core i5 or a i7 4800 for the M4800. since the coming soon page for M3800 actually says up to i7 processor i wouldn't worry too much, probably i5 dual core and i7 4700? unless by i7 proc they meant i7 ULV CPU, if that's the case...well...i got nothing to say, ULV in workstation laptop sure sound like a great combo, especially when your competitor(read: rMBP)is rocking quad core. /s

thinkpad W540 launches in november, so i don't expect to hear anything for M3800 until that time as well. maybe the screen supplied by Sharp has somthing to do with it also

There's a video on youtube where the marketing guy talks about the M3800's CPU, he says it's i7 quad.

Of course the i5 option is reasonable as well, given that the M4800 has that, and other Dell "Business" laptops.

What I meant was, the i5 is already 37W TDP, so it would have been nice to offer the 37W TDP i7 4702, since according to Intel the costs of the starter 47W i7 quad (I think 4700) are the same as the 4702 anyway.

Also in the video the marketing guy is making it sound like touch and 3200x1800 resolution is standard, when it's likely that this is not going to be the case.

Also for the updated M4800 there is virtually no customisation... you can't get the 1080p screen with an i5, or the 1800p screen with an i5, or an SSD with the 1080p screen or the i5.

To get the SSD you have to have the highest graphics and processor option, and the best screen option.

Do you know if the m3800 would be able to have two ssd, like of 1TB each in RAID 1, or only one?
