Thanks for confirming. I had assumed the light was supposed to be blinking because my old Dell does that...though it's nearly 10 years old by now

Hello, does anybody have a link or an image with the correct thermal pad dimensions (mostly height) for the CPU and GPU? I'm trying to change my paste and I'm buggered by this.

    Hi Good People,

I need an urgent advice in order to upgrade my Dell Precision 7540 laptop screen.

Currently I have 1PVM5 (LGD061) 100% sRGB FullHD which I really hate!! It gives me eye burn..

In contrast, I like my older M4800 IPS B156HAN01.1 (AUO11ED) screen - standard edge... is simply beautiful and working..

My question is, anyone good sirs know what AUO screen would fit into this Dell Precision 7540 narrow bezel 15.6inch?

I am upto the part number of the AUO only.

    Thanks!

    Cool setup!

As for split screen, you can get much better results by using a utility called Display Fusion Pro with any monitor or even a multi monitor setup. It can be bought for very cheap on Steam. The beauty of this utility is that you can create custom splits and store them as different profiles for different jobs. There are some neat add on features like shifting window to next virtual screen with a single button press, hotkey to maximize a window across splits if the need be etc.

I am also a part time programmer, and Display Fusion is my savior, far cheaper option than a hardware based solution.

    Hi all.

Yesterday when I was using my 7740 to encode a video using GPU acceleration, and also creating some optimised video proxy files using the CPU at the same time, suddenly the pale blue Windows loading screen with the spinning white dots appeared for about half a second, then the laptop turned off.

When I booted it up again, it carried on from where it was - halfway through encoding the video - so it was as if it went into some sort of hibernation/sleep rather than shutting down properly.

This happened twice. Could it be something to do with overheating? I noticed the GPU temp in task manager was around 86 deg C soon before it went off.

    Thanks

I would take a look in event viewer for a thermal event or another log with a hint of what happened.

If it was a thermal event, you should also be able to see it in the bios log too.
